    Default Hatton - Castillo

If we assume that Hatton gets past Urango, which I am not even sure he will given how out of shape he is and how muh the weight loss will take out of him, how will he do against Castillo.

I am a Hatton fan and have been to a few of his fights including Kostya. Despite being a fan I am not blinkered like those on Hatton's Forum. I cannot see the hitman beating Castillo. I reckon that Castillo is the bigger man and will wear him down in the late rounds. Castillo is better defensively and cleverer in close. I see the Hitman loosing and wishing he had talken the Mayweather fight when he had the chance.

As a big Hatton fan you will know that making weight has never been a problem, I dont see that changing right now.

I think Castillo is exactly what Rick needs to get the fire burning and he will batter the cheating cunt.

    Memphis - I diagree mate.

Hatton is getting older and it gets harder and harder to shift the weight when you are older. I saw photo's of Hatton before he started traning for Kostya but I think he's looked even bigger when I saw him at the Woods - Johnson fight. I really reckon Urango is worth a bet, as Hatton may have nothing left by fight night in makig weight. If that is the case it is a disgrace and he should show the sport some more respect.

I think he will get through Urango but not Castillo, not if he shows the lack of boxing skills he did against Maussa / Collazzo.

Exactly, normally he takes 3 to 4 months between fights, which means the extra weight only stays on him for a short time. But he's been out of the ring for what, 5, 6 months so I think it's gonna be much harder for him to shift the weight. I don't doubt that he'll do it, but I think he will lose some of his zip and endurance. I got it 50/50, although it remains to be seen as to how Castillo fares at 140 - will he even make the weight?

Agreed Memphis. Rick beats Castillo in a war. Rick is the type of fighter whom raises his game to his opponents level. I am not that concerned about this whole weight issue. Rick carries his weight in his face, and therefor people automatically think he is fat because of this. Believe me Hatton is in good physical shape as we speak and doesnt really have that much weight to lose before the Urango fight.
If as you say Big Daddy you are a fan of Hatton then you would know this is how Hatton goes about it, and getting into fighting shape is what he does better than most out there. As for getting old, well i wouldnt say he is that old at all, in fact i would say he is at the prime age for any sportsman to be competing at the highest level.

I try not to think about the weight thing because if I do it really p!sses me off. he shows a total lack of respect for the sport and his fans being in that state. People can say what they want but Hatton will be in a tough fight soon and he will not have enough in the tank for the later round and will loose. Fine it din'y happen against Kostya but Kostya was 35 and Hatton was 26. I am 29 now and I KNOW that is is haredr to loose weight at 28 than it is at 26.

All he has to do is go running a couple of times a week just to keep the worst of it off. It is not on and will be his downfall.

Matty, how do you know his weight? I read the Hatton forum but do not join in. On the forum there was someone introduced some time ago and apparatly he is definately a close mate of Ricky. Even he had a major go at him on the forum for excessive weight. Also it is not just his face. I was at the Woods - Johnson fight and let me tell you he was fat. End of. At least 13 stone. So he has 3 stone to loose in 12 weeks - that will bo so hard at 28.

i have to disagree that he is disrespecting the sport and fans... as he has has done it this way all through his career and gotten away with it

BUT... you make a valid point about how hard it will be the older he gets...

just dont think it will yet but there will come a time.

oh and welcome to the forum

The reason i know this is, is my bro speaks with him on a regular basis and at the moment Ricky certainly aint worried about what weight he has to lose before his next fight. Ricky's training coupled with the work he does with Kerry Kayes regards dieting and weight training will have him in the shape he wants to be in.

Dont get me wrong, i hear what ya saying about losing weight, but as we know Hatton wants out of the sport in a couple of years. As long as he is kept busy in these next couple of years then i dont really see this as being an issue

Saddo - cheers for the welcome.

Matty / Saddo - don't get me wrong I would love to see Hatton clear up and finish a legend and live up to his potential. I just think it would be a crying shame if stamina / weight loss issues lead to him being beat by an inferior opponent.

The Kostya fight is still the best sporting event I have ever been to and that includes a number of old firm games (I'm a tim by the way). The atmosphere was incredible. I just think that with the weight he risk not making his career what it should have been from this point but only time will tell. My point is why take the weight risk anyway and not just run a couple of times per week.

I suppose its similar to trying to get someone like Rooney, Wright or Keane to calm down a bit. They need that intensity to be the player they are. Ricky needs to drill himself into shape to be the fighter he is, in order to do that he has to get out of shape. It may or may not turn around and bite him in the arse, but for now you cant argue with the results his method brings.

The weight loss is never an issue with hatton. When he faught collazo he was 158lbs in the ring. When he faught tszyu and many other 140lb fights he is 156lb in the ring. Physically he hasn't gotten muscularly much bigger on that basis, obviously, i'm only going off what i can tell, but hatton has never had an issue making 140, and i don't see why that'd change, he's only just turned 28. He's basically in his physical prime.

Castillo will destroy Hatton, mark my words UNLESS the fight is in Manchester.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
