    NEWS FLASH

    Marquez-Jaca to try it again!
Two-time World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez (45-3-1) will again try to defend his WBO interim featherweight title against Filipino Jimrex Jaca (26-2-1) on November 25th at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, TX. Marquez and Jaca were slated to fight on an October 21 pay-per-view card, but visa troubles forced Jaca to pull out just days before the bout. This time the fight is slated for HBO's late night series "Boxing After Dark" and no problems are anticipated as Jaca received his visa on October 11th and the only reason he couldn't travel to the U.S. last time was he was unable to receive the necessary government stamp due to a backup at the US embassy in Manila. That red tape is now resolved.

I'll be the first to say that eventhough that whole 'Mexican Glory' card blew up in GBP face and it should have either been reduced $$ or just called off..... IMO
GBP has managed to get JMM to fight, get more exposure and more importantly keep him busy!!!
It's just toooo bad that HBO has turned down JMCotto, Harris & ASantos as opponents....
Then who should he fight? Anyone got a fwocken clue!!

That red tape is now resolved.

"No question that Juan Manuel Marquez is one of the best lower weight division fighters in the world," said promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Marquez. "He is very sound technically, but also a very rugged fighter. If anyone knows this, it's Manny Pacquiao. Remember, Marquez was knocked down three times in the first round of their fight, got up each time and then proceeded to pick Pacquiao apart for the remainder of their fight." De La Hoya warns that Marquez can't take Jaca lightly. "I wouldn't advise any fighter to take any fighter lightly, especially Jimrex Jaca. He's a strong, talented fighter with incredible will and determination."

Slated for the semi-main event is Demetrius Hopkins (24-0-1), currently the #5 super lightweight contender and USBA champion. Hopkins will face a yet to be named opponent in a 10-round contest. De La Hoya will be ringside along with Golden Boy Promotions partner, Bernard Hopkins. In addition, noted world champions Lennox Lewis, Jesse James Leija, Raul Marquez and Jesus Chavez will be in attendance. Tickets, priced at $200, $100, $75, $50, $35 and $25, go on sale Saturday at the Dodge Arena Box Office, www.dodgearena.com or by calling 1-866-RIO-TIXX.

I just kinda wonder why he's at feather. What's really there for him? Scott Harrisson can't stay out of jail. A Chris John fight would be fine but he would almost certainly have to go back to Indonesia and that's not a great move. I guess maybe Vasquez, or Caballero or somebody from 122 could move up but that's not a certainty and those aren't really true mega fights. He should beat up on Jaca and then think about moving up IMO.

    Yeah!! I agree.
The only thing that comes to mind is that hes laying low, 'till theres a BIG name available for him to fight then he'll make the move.... By the looks of it all the BIG names are busy in fights.... He might be waiting on the result of the PAC-ERIK fight and then again so is MAB

Yeah, I agree, but he might as well go on and move up even if he's biding his time just so he can get a fight or two at the new weight to test it out before he fights one of the elite. I think he could handle the weight fine with his technical skills, no real point in hanging around at a weight where there are no big fights.

    NEWS FLASH

    Marquez-Jaca off again!
For the second time, the defense of WBO interim featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez against Jimrex Jaca is off. Jaca's manager, Rex 'Wakee' Salud told fight scribe Dennis Principe that he already has a commitment for his fighter to appear beneath the November 18 Pacquiao-Morales card. According to Mr. Salud, Golden Boy Promotions' decision to resurrect the fight came right after he had come to an agreement with Top Rank. A source also told Principe that it is currently impossible for Jaca to make the featherweight limit.

They delay this fight as if its a megafight people are waiting for. We'll get frustrated but not angry. However if this was Marquez against Morales.. or Barerra... THEN anger comes and then angry riots.

    NEWS FLASH

Marquez-Jaca on again! FOR THE 3rd time
    Hopkins vs Castaneda announced
Golden Boy Promotions today reconfirmed that Juan Manuel Marquez will indeed make the first defense of his WBO interim featherweight championship on Saturday, November 25th in an HBO Boxing After Dark-televised bout against Jimrex Jaca at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The 12 round championship match between Marquez (45-3-1, 34 KOs) and Jaca (27-2-1, 12 KOs) was originally scheduled for October 21st, but VISA issues caused the bout to be postponed until November 25th. Jaca's manager Rex “Wakee” Salud had told several reporters that Jaca had accepted another fight. Stay tuned....

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also finalized for the HBO Boxing After Dark show is a 12 round junior welterweight showdown between unbeaten standout Demetrius ‘The Gladiator’ Hopkins (24-0-1, 10 KOs) to defend his USBA Title against Rogelio Castaneda Jr. (23-10-3, 8 KOs), who is unbeaten in his last eight bouts.

CC for the updates Mick!! Keep them coming! I think JMM is cursed or something,is this guy primed never to be active and never to land a big fight!!! I mean he has so much skill, such a great fighter but surely is entering the twilight of his career and still the fights elude him! I think he should screw this fight, move up,call out the big 3. That is what I would do if I were in his position, why risk fighting guys like this Jaca who sounds awkward, dangerous, and really a high risk,ZERO reward fight. What does Marquez gain beating him>??

jmm should really be calling the top guns at 130lbs. you're right EG, he doesn't gain anything from this fight but it's not really high risk. i see him easily beating jaca.

Obviously, Jaka is avoiding it and if he is, he is absolutely right to do so coz he's got no chance. I wonder why JMM is wasting his precious time.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.
