Default Fans Boo'ing and walking out.......... who else?

Fans are vocal with their thoughts and feet.

Its been a long long time since i saw fans Boo'ing and walking out of a top-tier fighter's show.

Floyd, must be pretty gripped by that.

The last time i remember this happening (before the result) was when Naz fought Manuel Calvo.

I think it's worse than a heroic loss - to have your own fans boo you and leave.

I am not sure I agree with people walking out. They should respect a championship fight more than that. The fighter cannot fight the fight the crowd wants just so they stay. Floyd fights that way and he is predictable. What did they want? If they want excitement, they should go to a Gatti fight. I know I would have stayed till the end.

But on the other hand floyd should respect his fans, and when he's got a guy in front of hi that clearly couldnt hang with him after all the hype,
floyd owded it to the fans to put on a show.... i watched the fight in my conservatory and started walking out before i realised i was in my own home ! lol

I would personally go with the Leg, that fans shouldn't be booing someone of Mayweather's stature and reputation, unless he takes a drubbing by a significantly worse fighter. This is a man, who although I am not a big fan of, has really done what he needed to do in building up a comfortable lead against a big puncher, and then looked to get out of the way, then stay out of the way. He did talk the big talk, but then again he did win, and win comfortably.

Bodyhead, yeah I know what you mean and I agree in a way about owing it to the fans. I remember Hearns saying in an interview once about why he slugged in fights when he could have won by boxing and he said "because he was there to put on a show for the fans who paid good money to see him" But that was Hearns, and Hagler was the same. That is why they fought the best round and fight ever. But Floyd is not Hagler and Hearns. He is a rather self centered egocentric guy who does not want to prove he is the best because he believes he is. Hector Camacho pulled a little of this. Sort of do with the mouth, what they did not fully do in the ring. It works a little, but at least Hector was entertaining outside the ring. Floyd is a little nauseating the way he says he is p4p the best fighter ever. Best fighter ever who never fought a great fighter .He is rather stubborn and that stubborness will prevent him from maybe getting some fights which would put him in the great echelon of boxing. Do I think he could beat some great fighters ? yeah maybe, but he does lack power and if his hand is hurt against a great fighter who has power, floyd might be outgunned. Fighting Baldomir he can get away with a hurt hand. But as for the fans leaving. I am not sure.

    yeh thats right... too true
i guess i mix it up with my points of view in the way that yes... props to floyd he pulled it off and got the win... its on the record at the end of the day... it doesnt say tiger woods, iran barkley and winky wright walked out before the end on boxrec!! lol
and in the end floyd wont suffer badly about the fight anyway... i like him as a fighter but its just aggravation coming out from floyd becoming more arrogant and such recently...
he doesnt just compare himself to hearns and leonard...
he claims on sugar ray robinson ..lol
so props on the skills.... and anger at his tongue...
the hand thing is a bastard and all... and in a way its obviously the right thing to do..
for example leonard try's to fight duran on durans terms and lost his fist bout....
its just all the hype and lies from floyd as a man , not as a fighter... on paper and judged on skills and rec.... i thought baldo could make it alot closer.... but put them in the rin and it became apparent, that for the sake of arguement... the speed didnt match up in any way.. never mind any other stats ...
its disapointing in a way from floyd... but at the same time.... its done.. who can change it.. and who will hold it against floyd in the long run?... very few i suspect...

I think Floyd is good. No doubt. And he could beat some great fighters, but he is stubborn and he is thinking he is the top guy and he will not bend on the money or on who is the headline, But if he bends a little now and beats a Delahoya or a Mosley. That does alot for his career. Something is missing in his style though I will admit, but Delahoya and Mosley are on the way down and he could outbox both of them probably. I know he is fast and that speed will do well for awhile, but he lacks power and if he is in there with a great fighter who can weather the storm and come back and land, Floyd does not look like a guy who can take too much. I am not sure why I think that. Usually the big talkers did not materialize with the absorbing of punches. Only Roberto Duran could talk and get away with fighting great fighters.

If Floyd cared about the fans and decided to trade to excite them what good does it do him. I'm pretty sure he'd rather look boring in victory then exciting in defeat. Because no matter the cheers if you lose they dont overturn it

....very true, but the fans do pay his way.

I would rather see him challenged than fight scrubs (not that Baldomir was a scrub)....he has stepped it up a little more recently.

The Zab fight was a step in the right direction....I don't think it's too much to ask that the guy EARN his greatness....I mean greatness isn't handed out on street corners

Floyd was fighting the man that outweighed him naturally by about 35 or 40lbs.

He destroyed Gatti & stumbled & humiliated Judah...Floyd did just fine.

I had a handful of people over who were thrilled to death with the fight...I am at a loss for words as to what is going on in the heads of my fellow forum goers.

    Floyd outboxed Baldo...& he won...PERIOD.

    Totally agree.
I dont give a monkeys what people think of me, as long as im winning.
Ok, maybe its different when your as skilled as somebody like Floyd, but still when your fighting, theres only one person who counts....you.

The people walked out of that fight for two reasons: PBF willed it to be a boring fight and they were crap fans to begin with.

It's not PBF's fault that he was good enough to win easily. But as someone who shelled out for the event, He would have earned a fan in me if he would have shown more aggresiveness. It would be one thing if he used his superior speed to find new angles when Baldomir closed the gap but instead he would spin Baldomir around and run clear across the ring. He did this numerous times running and reseting. The only reason this boring tactic is excusable is that he broke his power hand in rd 6.

As for the fans who walked out, nuts to them. They were there to be seen like the event was merely an expensive prelude to clubbing on the Vegas Strip. Any fightfan worth their salt knows that the best thing about the sport is that a bout can change in an explosive instant. I can't count the times I've got up to piss and missed something big.

As for DLH saying he wouldn't fight him afterwards because of the performance is purely a bargaining move.

It's a balance isn't it? yes the fans pay the wages and you are entertaining them BUT it's your life on the line whether you choose to box or brawl, plenty of fans only want to see near death experiences. I enjpy a scrap but I appreciate the skill of boxing and that can be as good to watch. I think a fan should be able to enjoy both otherwise you might as well go to your local bar at chucking out time. Never walked out or boo'ed during a fight, always applaud both fighters - had a cheeky boo at Naz but that was theatre
