Default Just Another One of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: Mayweather vs Baldomir

Well my friends...the weight is finally over.

What I'd like to lable as THE FIGHT is only 6 short days away.

Why lable this THE FIGHT, you ask of Wacko?

Not only is it another match up featuring my #2 favorite fighter of all time...it's one step closer to unifying one of the most talent deep divisions of the game.

147 pounds is about to get sorted out bwoys & girls...one way or another...& win, lose, or draw on this one...Wacko can finally say for once that he will be totally satisfied with the outcome...long as it's legit.

Let's all settle in & put your reading glasses on fellers...I got a lot to say...& the majority of it is going to be old spat...but we gotta get this DRBR started off right...thus I bring to you...yet again...finally...after two weeks off...yep.

    Drum roll please!

You guessed it: Just Another One of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds.

You gotdam right I'm fulla me-self this go round! Heh heh heh.

So some of you might be asking right now...why? Why Wacko? Why are you more full of ye-ole-self this weekend than usual?

    Several reasons.

First & foremost...we get to put the boxing theatre to full blast this weekend. The sound system's getting beefed up a bit with another 6 speakers & wer'e loading up for a mega blast. The food's on order, the crowd is lining up, & this is...once again...THE FIGHT.

This Saturday, November the 4th, 2006 wer'e heading to Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas courtesy of HBO PPV to see if the odds & hurtles can be jumped & beaten as Floyd Mayweather pits his speed & skills against the strength & durability of the IBA & WBC's recognized Welterweight champion Carlos Manuel Baldomir. This fight is...for lack of better words...basically all the marbles.

Stop for just a second & think what's riding on this match up...for both men.

    Fights have come & gone.
Careers have been made & broken.
    History is being made.
Weight classes have been jumped & conquered.
    Odds have been over come.
    Images have rejuvenated.

As big as those facts are for the fighters...stop for one minute...& think of what this means to us, the fans.

On September the 10th, 2006...I asked you all a question...not a simple on...but one that has been juggled back & forth between pretty much everyone on the board.

    The question?

Can Baldomir pull off the Upset of the Year?

    http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxing_fo...c,36400.0.html

I posted the link for you all...because I want you all to go back & re-read some of your opinions...read mine especially. The reason I say this? Well...because I'm basically on record as stating that Floyd wins the fight over 12 tuff fought rounds.

I want to officially switch my opinion on this one...OFFICIALLY.

I'd like to go on record right here & right now by saying...I don't have a gotdam clue how this one comes out.

I want to bail out like a sell out on this one.

I honestly believe that this is going to be one of the hardest fights that my guy has been in, but I also believe that Baldo does have a chance. I've planted me-self & watched their shared opponents & I've decided that it's going to be a fight...THE FIGHT.

Now I know that that goes back in years & is aiken to Hagler Hearns...I'm not trying to be flashy...but stop & think about what is to be gained & what is to be lost...this fight parrallels that one. Not that the opponents are comprable...but the stakes are very much as high.

As I stated on the previous link...I've been dismissing the talent, heart, and abilities of Baldomir. Can he continue to defy the odds as he has over the past year or two or has he just caught the right men at the right times?

I've pretty much said everything that I could over the past month regarding this match up...so...outside of backing off of my prediction...all I have to say is just rehash...but this is the run up to the DRBR...so I gotta say something.

All apologies aside...YES...I am a die hard fan of Mayweather...but anything can happen...& YES...I am beginning to warm to Baldomir and also his chances.

As I stated...again in the previous link...I have, over the past month I have begun to see this fight as a possible upset in the making...honestly.. .unbiasedly...how could one not?

Usually...I toss up my views on both fighters...the Wackster's Factors for the Fight...but I'm just going to pull up the questions that I posed on the other thread...no use in bringing up factors when there are still so many questions. If you agree, disagree, or just agree to disagree...which would be one of the other or two for ya brother...let's hash it out.

    My Questions:
#1: Can Floyd continue to rise up with repeated success?
#2: Can Baldomir continue to hold his unbeaten streak against the cream of the crop?
#3: Can Floyd's hands, chin, and skills pull him through against today's equivelant of "the Cinderella Man"?

    My answers:
#1: No. I don't think that he can. Favorite fighter or not...I don't go for the weight jumping...I think that it ruins careers down the road. I believe that Mayweather will beat Baldo in a tuff fight...but moving up to 154 & more...possibley facing Oscar or Mosley...things like that...I just don't see him pulling off anymore.
#2: No. I don't think that Baldo will defeat Floyd.
#3: Yes. Floyd's hands, chin, and skills pull him through this battle...the real question is...does everyone buy into the fact that the media is selling Baldo as today's equivelant of "the Cinderella Man"?

All will be answered Saturday November the 4th, 2006 in what will be one of the most important 12 rounders of both careers with the WBC, IBO, and the IBA Welterweight titles on the line. It's make or break for Baldomir and another chance for Floyd to prove that he is indeed the pound for pound elite fighter of the world.

As always...Wacko's up for the game & I can't wait to sit in on what quite possibley could turn out to be one of the FOTY's.

We shall see...as always...break out the chips & salsa & pick your poison of choice. It's fight night!

    Cheers & koneecheewah bitches.

I'm hoping Floyd by TKO, but voted Floyd by easy 12.

It's school time. If Floyd's elusiveness and defense is top notch, the rest plays itself out as expected.

No, I don't think Floyd rises in the weights unchecked, just as ODLH didn't as Hopkins proved.

But talking this fight ... clinic.

And I like Tata too, so it isn't meant as disrespect to him.

I'm putting $50 on Baldy. For a 8 to 1 payday, I gotta do it. I voted for Baldomir by TKO. I guess that's more hoping than anything else, but I think Mayweather is due for a fall. I think Baldy will walk through Floyds punches and keep pressuring and pressuring. Sooner or later, Floyd will get caught.

Floyd will get caught if/when he fights DLH.

    Not this weekend.

C'mon now. Like Hopkins Tarver, y'all. Faith in your man, Wack!

I do think Floyd will be pressured, but at moments, and not as a hallmark of the fight.

funny if you look at this on paper it looks like its gonna be a walk over... but im with you wacka i also dont like the jumping up in weight.

He will be in with his first LEGIT welter this weekend and a tough fight might just be the thing he needs to keep him out of the ring against oscar or mosley because those guys would stuff him bigtime.

would much rather see him get back down in weight and fight hatton or cotto imo

a fight against witter would also intrest me

but if he does shine in this one WTF do i know hahahhaha

all i have to say is im looking forward to the rbr and..... COME ON BALDYYYYYYYY

I went for easy decision for Floyd.

Baldo's a good story, I like him, but I just don't see him as having the tools to beat Floyd. I don't see him as a bigger version of Castillo. Bigger, yes. But nowhere near as slick offensively, wider punches, slower. I expect his strength and pressure to keep Floyd from opening up as much offensively as he has against some guys lately, but I don't expect Baldo to win many rounds.

Would be an amazing story if he pulled it off though.

I really hope Baldo wins, but he didn't look good the first half against Judah...
Then Judah lost his cool, when he got hit and Baldo took his chance like a champ...
That won't happen against Floyd...he is much better than Judah and I can't see
    how Baldo can beat Floyd...

Winning or losing Baldo really deserved this payday...

    GO BALDOMIR ...

I went with Floyd by easy UD. As much as I want somebody to put PBF in his place I just dont think that Baldomir is the man to do it. Just call PBF bus driver cuz he will be taking Carlos to school. Absolute clinic on this one, dont see Baldo winning more than three rounds, I will be shocked if gets that many. I believe PBF has to much talent and abilities to let him into the fight. It will be like the Gatti fight except it will go the distance.

cc wacko been waiting a long time for this fight and cant wait to read your DRbR!!!!

WOOT! I voted for Floyd by TKO. I think baldo is just going to keep coming forward the whole night and Floyd will have a field day peppering him with every punch in the book. Baldomir will be stubborn and determined and because of that will take a BIG beating and will be stopped in the 9th!

Personally, I'm pretty excited to see pbf in the ring again. Baldomir is the kind of fighter that Floyd will shine against. PBF had to take a different fight to Judah out of respect for judah's potential arsenal but against Bladomir I think he will SHINE like he did against gatti.

I said Baldy wins but is robbed off the decision...it is not like we have seen that this year.

M'I the only person that feels this is not a well put card?
I mean PBF-Baldo not super stars, PBF as of lately hes been getting more recognition.....

Anyway!! I wont be buying this PPV, Instead I'll be watching the Showtime card for FREE and IMO is about twice as better then the PPV card.... Thats just me......

So enjoy!!! the card, I probably get on line and look at the rd by rd but I don't see this a fight to pay to see I just don't
