    Default WHAT IF?

what if floyd patterson had stayed at middleweight instead of moving up to heavyweight?.....
...I think he wouldv'e gone down as one of the greatest middles of all time next to lamotta and robinson!.......he just couldnt match it with the big punching HW like liston..

..in hes 2nd fight with liston, patterson hit him with a nice straight right, but didnt have the power at hw to hurt liston..but if hed stayed at a lower weight,i think he would and could of knocked lamotta and robinson da fuk out!! IMO! peace..

I think if Floyd fought at lightheavy, he would have been devastating. He would of cleaned up at that weight. I dont remember him ever fighting at middleweight, but I know what you're saying.

Floyd was alot like Ezzard Charles. A guy who naturally was a lightheavy, and devastating at that weight, but fought at heavyweight for the bigger paychecks. Both Charles and Patterson won heavyweight belts when they were naturally better at a lower weight.

Both of them were ATG fighters.

He was 17 when he won gold 11st 11lbs the only guy to give him trouble before winning the title was a lightheavy Maxim I think he was 19 then. He would have been a great cruiser

i not 100 % sure but i think floyd fought at middleweight as an amature and in the olimpics..but i agree i think patterson would of been a force at a lower weight...but at HW he is not really an all time great in my mind.

Floyd definetely would of been a great cruiser, but they didnt have a cruiserweight division back then.

It's a shame his fighting with Ray Robinson never happened. Sugar Ray was going to move up to hevayweight for one fight to fight Patterson ut after he lost to Liston the fight idea was cancelled.

Would have been a legendary fight and one of the most famous fights all time.
