    Default Something I noticed

I'm a huge Ali fan and thought that if he wasn't suspended for the 3 years he may have beaten frazier and possibly gone undefeated. However, after waching Ali/Quarry I (his first fight back), i have to say that my beliefs on how he was affected by the layoff are wrong. Eventhough the fight only lasted 3 rounds, Ali looked to be as good as he was pre-exile. Now during the mid 70's he could only do his circling motion for a few rounds and not an entire fight like he could before. I think he either over-estimated frazier or had a bad gameplan on how to beat him but ali looks like a completely different boxer in that fight.

Theory or not Ali missed out on three years of his prime, he would have dominated those three years, he won 2 out of 3 against Frazier so there was a strong possibility that he could have beaten Frazier in the years of his suspension

I'm saying after he returned against quarry he looked like he was still just as good before he was exiled. Now what happened between that fight and ali-frazier I i dunno. He would've no doubt won thru those 3 years. This isn't a shot at ali i'm just saying that eventhough i thought the suspension hurt him after watching ali-quarry I it doesn't appear that way.

Frazier was a Bob and Weave machine in their first fight. Excellent timing, conditioning and power. I don't think Ali had faced anyone who had that style down so well up until that point.
3-year lay off or not, I think their first fight would have ended up the same.

Yeah frazier was his toughest opponent up to that point. Frazier had to excel at being a good fighter on the inside because of his size. Say what you want about liston, Ali made him look silly.

True about Liston, although I have a real suspicion about that second fight. That little right just couldn't have possibly had enough on it to make Liston flounder like that.

It was a shot to the temple that has those effects. Look at berbick vs tyson and how fake that looked. None of ali's ko shot had great power they were just thrown at great angles. I'm leaning towards thats how it went but liston taking a dive certainly isn't out of the question.

Very likely, if he was getting outboxed early and figured out that his strategy wasn't going to work, he may have decided to go home early that night.
