Default Moscow Mayor Steps In to Arrange Maskaev-Klitschko Unifier

A story from the Kommersant(Russian online news)stated that Yury Luzhkov(Mayor of Moscow)is in full support to arrange a fight between Maskaev and Klitschko. It seems they have reached an agreement already they just need the aproval of the WBC.Maskaev would make a lot more money this way and for Peter he would fight the winner which would have both the WBC and IBF belt, one less guy for Peter to face.

But it's one less guy Peter can beat. Imo Peters people will try very hard to ensure that Maskaev fight him for the title... PEter would win that fight, and when he did, it would make his rematch with Wlad the unification fight that people really wan't to see, and it would also probably give him a chance to improve more before fighting Wlad again... Let's face it, noone thinks Maskaev is going to beat either of those two, imo there shouldn't be alot of clout in the fact that he has the WBC title.. It's not as if Rahman was a champ..

This really doesn't make any sense for Wladdy. Why would he give up his current title to fight Maskaev? He should just get Austin out of the way and go after Valuev.
Once he gets those issues resolved, he can make an attempt to unify. I understand that it would mean a bigger pay-day for Maskaev, but to be fair, Peter fought
Toney twice with alphabet soup mandating a second Toney fight. Peter has paid his dues and deserves a shot at Maskaev's title.

Why would he be giving up his belt?If the WBC says OK to this fight noboby has to give up a belt.

He is but there are always exceptions.I am sure they would work Austin into it somewhere so he would still get a shot at the winner.

I would LOVE to see this fight come to fruition .....HOWEVER I have the distinct feeling the WBC belt would not be on the line as DKP can pull some crap citing the fact that Wladimir is not a mandatory.

One of the better fights that could be made IMO.....that would mean Austin-Peter for the UNIFIED #1 challenger

Lyle: This is a joke, right? Peter just fought Toney twice! The man deserves his shot at the title.

Klitschkofan: I know how these corrupt sanctioning bodies love to play puppet-master and tweak the rules; especially when there is so much money involved. Klitschko would murder Maskaev, and there isn't much of a chance of him getting by Peter with his questionable chin. Mind you, I've only seen Peter hurt bad in the 11th Rd. of his fight with Klitschko, and to a much lesser degree, in the 6th with Toney in the first fight.
If this fight does come to fruition, I think it's just another indictment of the sport's sanctioning bodies and the crooked politics they love to play.
