would have been an easy fight for vitaly years ago, we will see nowadays...it's not that easy to come back sometimes, and definitely not against a World champ.

I just when back to look over both Vitali and Oleg's record...hmmm. I'm on record as saying that Maskaev has no chance, but perhaps I should rethink that. I'll upgrade Maskaev's chance to "small". Vitali is 36, coming off long break, and really, the highlight of his career was a competitive loss. He seems to have gained a lot of status based on a PERCEPTION that Lewis retired to duck him. I know two things about Vitali - he has heart and he has a punch. We also know that Maskaev has the same two things, but all indictions point to Vitali having a better chin to go along with a bit more power.
Seems to me we might have a good fight on our hands. As much as I've been against this fight happening, we may get a nice bout. I predict a late KO by Vitali. If Lance Whitaker and Corrie Sanders can KO Oleg, I have to imagine Vitali will get to him at some point.

It's easy to see it as Vitali coming off a long layoff, and give Maskaev a chance based on that... But Oleg is a dinosaur himself who is very lucky to hold a belt and spent the last five years before winning it doing very little.. As long as Vitali has been staying in shape, isn't plagued with injuries, and has good sparring in camp.... Oleg is getting KTFO early imo.

Being a huge Vitali fan...I can honestly say that I am thrilled to death that he is coming back...but also sick shitless that Peter got the bump.

Vitali is kinda raw but i really think he is top draw and could have been great , only 2 injury losses on his record. he eats oleg for breakfast
