Re: It's just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Barrera vs Marquez
Howz goin' Wacko, it's been a while since I came crashin' into you party... we're finally here, indeed, hahaaay, this is about the only statement I agree with the great Wacko here...just kiddin
This fight should have happened a long time ago. THE fight has a potential of being a GREAT fight to be talked about for generations to come (am I exagerratin' again) full of explosions OR it can turn out to be a dud - a counter-punchin' chicken dance. Let's just hope for a bomb...
What shall I say? I think it's Marco by KO, and if Wacko and the other Marquez gang say that's because of my being a pac-fan, then I'll just plead guilty smiling like this
for the sake of world peace. But geeze, almost everyone here is taken in by the pac-three-knockdown-coming-back-to-win myth! Even the most fanatical of the Barrera fan are affected by that myth. (c'mon Game, what's this 115-113, 116-113, 115-113 UD thing, that's timid of you, man, just say KO in 3!). All right, before my SC's gets piling up, let me get serious.
Why do I say Barrera? Let me start by saying he's fought much bigger fights than Marquez - way faaar by a mile. Second, Barrera has one of the toughest chin in the market, I think between the three, he's number 2, just behind Morales but just ahead of Pac. This is one of the most important factor in this fight, IMO, though it may sound a bit stupid. Why so? It's simply because once Barrera knows that he can take his opponent's punch, he will just go on swarming him until the KO, and I think he can, though let me say that Marquez IS a big puncher, no doubt. But see, Marco, at least in his prime, usually just keep on eatin' them big punches. Remember how he ate tons and tons of Pac's punches, one of the best in the market, and was still standing 'til the 11th and didn't go down until the end? - it was the towel that send him out, fools. But you may ask why did Juarez give him trouble? It's because Juarez was extremely effective from the inside and Marco played right into his game, in contrast with the way Winks handled Quartey's pestering inside game. Once Marco realized that, he just stood outside and bingo, he made Juarez look like a fool - can you imagine the big turnaround? So you see, I see Marco swarming Marquez and eventually stopping him, IF, he is in a good condition and I think you'll know if he is so right in the first round - if you see him coming strong I think that's it, otherwise, I'll leave it to you guyz.
So what about this much 'vaunted' counterpunching ability of Marquez. All I can say is that his counterpunching is good for only once per fighter, I must qualify that with 'good' (fighter), though. Why? It's because his counterpunching comes in a definite, predicatable pattern. Marquez just wait for his opponent to attack, and just as his opponent attacks, he steps aside a bit and comes with a 1-2-3 combos, usually consisting of right, left, uppercut and sometimes with a body shot. Once a boxer can see the pattern, the magic of Marquez couterpunching will just go pfffft just like the magic of Juarez' inside fight going nuts in the rematch. Marquez' counterpunching is different from Floyd's, where the Pretty Boy relies on natural instinct and reflex like a cat (that can actually be developed though, as some chinese kung-fu experts do) than relying on a specific pattern. That's what makes Pretty boy hard to predict and effective. But having said all that, I wasn't really thinking much about the counterpunching because I think it wouldn't have mattered to a well-conditioned Barrera. As I've said before, I think he'll just come swarming right into Marquez...
But on the other hand, this could just turn into a 12 rounds of chicken dance, but for pete's sake, let's hope not... ...But seriously, what if this turn into a counterpunching exhibition match? What'll it be like. I have a nagging feeling that it's almost impossible for Marquez to win on a decision simply because Barrera has been uncle Golden Boy's favorite and I've seen him using many tricks under his sleeves to make his favored ones win. As much as I admire Oscar as a fighter, I think he should stay away from boxing promotions.
Was I so unkind to Marquez? Well I quess those pics of his fooling around with some quyz musta have affected me.
Actually, I don't give a damn what he or she is as long as he fights like a MAN and to be little kind to Marquez, he does just that once on a ring, so let's give him a break from this faggy thang, folks...
...After all have been said, let us all, me, Wacko and all of you, for or aqainst whichever fighter, raise up our glasses and greet each others 'cheers' - may the better man win! and may that be Barrera.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.
