    Default Fact or myth?

I kind of remembered this out of the blue. When I was active in my gym a few years back I remember one of the older trainers (who was in the Vietnam war) talking about in some of the east asian countries they would hold "boxing" matches where the wraps or gloves were coated in glue or something and dipped into broken shards of glass. I can only imagine how horribly disfigured the fighter's would be afterwards if in fact this type of thing took place.

Is there a specific name for this type of fighting and has anyone seen or heard about this type of thing?

called Muay Thai boxing you are correct sir.. Many many moons ago ,fighters would soak their hemp rope bindings in a sticky resin and then dip their hands in crushed glass and ash that would attack the opponents eyesight.

Thats right Van Damme is the shat bitches! When I read this thread, "Kickboxer" is the first thing that came to mind. Honestly I think "Bloodsport" is a better movie though, more action, and a bunch of differnt types of fighters in that one. Acadamey Award winning actor Forrest Whitaker is also in that one. Check it out folks. "The Muscles from Brussels" was the shat! Now the fuker won't even do his own stunts in his straight to video crap movies.

Van Damme is so sick, I thought kickboxer was better because of the bad guy and that last match was pretty tight. All his movies are the same but its so funny, it starts off like his brother or friend is a great fighter then they get beat down(paralyzed etc) He goes and trains with an ancient master and ends up in a tournament and dominates till the last two matches where he starts losing and ends up coming back and winning in dramatic fashion with his Jump Spin kick with that yell. Such good movies and such good memories.

Oh yeah, Van Damme rocked. I think his best movie ever was "Lionheart" though, it was a similiar plot line, with his brother being burned to death and him having to fight in streetfights to make money to support his dead brother's wife and child. He kicked hella ass in that one. And he fought this Andre the Giant lookin fuker at the end too. I also liked "Death Warrant". Where he had to infiltrate a prison cus prisoners were bein killed for their organs or some shat. Best part of that movie is when he first gets there and his cell mate tells him that if he wants things to be cool he's gonna have to pay or punk. Van Damme responds by whippin his ass, chokin him, and saying "I don't pay and I don't punk, got it?". PRICELESS!!!
You see the thing about Van Damme is that he took himself way too seriously, but you still had to love the knot headed little bastard!
