Default Thaxon: “Amir boy is too weak to beat me”

By Ant Evans: British Lightweight Champion Jon Thaxton has told British boxing’s boy wonder Amir Khan to mind his manners.

Norwich box-slugger Thaxton told SecondsOut: “Khan is a future world champion, no question in my mind, but, at this stage I’m too strong for him. A year, maybe 18 months from now it would probably be a different story but right now it would be a boy against a man.”

What i do know is Amir would have to dance his ass off against Thaxton to beat him at this stage of his career.

Thaxton is blatantly trying to taunt Khan into making a fight with him, but I think Thaxton might be after the big payday rather than the fight. The thing is Amir is very quick, and although Thaxton has plenty of power, he is also pretty quick and might catch Amir a few times. I hope Amir puts loads of pressure on Warren to make it happen, but if Warren has his way it won't be happening anytime soon I imagine.

If it gets made it will be a very big test of Khan's chin, but I reckon that Amir gets through a shakty patch where he gets caughta few times to win a narrow UD....or if it's a Warren promotion a ridiculously wide UD that bears no relation to the fight. Either that or he gets KTFO early on.

Dunno what to make of this matchmaking. I'll trust Warren on this one. If he decides not to make it, well, no suprises there. If he makes the fight, i'll go as far as to say that it says a hell of a lot about Khan's nerve and ability.

Might be a case of more nerve than ability though ?

I went to watch Harrison vs Williams 2 and Amir fought a guy called Rachid Drilzane this kid was a proper tough cookie well built and strong he had his moments but Amir stud him on his head Amir won 9 of the 10 rounds Amir's speed is awsome if Thaxton fights Amir he's in for alot of trouble Amir will stop him inside 8 rounds Amir as been very impressive in every fight this is a kid who is olympic silver medalist his ko of Ryan Barrett was a great win Barrett has gone on to win British masters title i think even as green as Amir is at the moment he would still have to much for the likes of Thaxton,Earl,Limond a fight with someone like Meager would be a good gauge to see how good he is at British level if he comes through that easier than Thaxton then bring him and the rest on then on to european and world honours. Thaxtons a good british fighter but he's abit ko happy in my opinion while he's looking for the ko Amir would be giving him a boxing lesson wearing him down before stopping him

Has anyone EVER heard FW even mention the possibility of a Thaxton-Khan fight? Exactly

This fight wont be happening anytime soon, if ever. It doesn't matter whether Khan could beat him at this stage it's not a chance that can, or will, be taken.

People think Amir has awsome speed? Maybe I haven't seen enough of him, but I haven't seen anything astronomical about his handspped.

He can flurry extremely fast but looks a bit wreckless with it. Thaxton would break the kid at the moment, too strong and too tough.
