    Default Darchinyan ducking Montiel?

    http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...uOfpeRlEZ.html

According to Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Eric Gomez, Darchinyan must not have been informed of an offer to face WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel. "We offered a bout between Fernando Montiel and Vic Darchinyan," said Gomez, "and Gary Shaw turned it down. He said Darchinyan didn't want to fight Montiel."

I wouldn't blame him. We both know Darchiniyan would get embarassed big time by Montiel and his ali shuffle

I ain't surprised BUT let's wait a few hours before we get Shaws respond which will be something like 'We were never informed of that, Vics a great champ. and he nevers turns a fight down. We are more then ready to face Montiel if the numbers are right for Vic and we feel it's a fair deal we'll make it happen until now I have yet to receive any notices".

Something like that.... and so begins the he said, she said storys...

So true, Montiel has been saying he wants to break from GB. Montiel only fought once in 06 & only was so far this year so I don't blame him for wanting to leave. With that sort of activity I seriously doubt GB tried to make the fight.

Last I heard Vic was saying he already beat Fernando's brother & he'll bet him as well. Doesn't sound like ducking to me.

Plus what does it say at the bottom of the article. "Yeah I'll fight Darchinyan" not "Yeah I was ready to fight Darchinyan"

Alot of people dont rate VD because of his style but he clearly has something !!!

He looks amatuerish at time ( ive only seen him twice ) but he has sustance and power is fit and cuts of the ring well .

Montiel flatters to decieve he's been beaten before it would be a tricky fight but i wouldnt understand or believe any reason why he'd be ducking Montiel !!

Montiel is a stylish fighter but he does switch off and i could see VD breaking him down.

Agree with you here, it's all part of the game they play to get the money right. Montiel needs a Vic win on his resume as much as Vic wants his. I don't believe the top guys in any division duck that much if the offer is right. Vic is in his 30's and for a little guy time is running out and he needs big fights.
    It will happen.
