Default Just Another Fight for Floyd.....

To me it was typical Mayweather befuddling his opponent ala the Pied Piper... How many times have we seen Opponents that were supposed to Slaughter Mayweather and Rip his head off Coralles, Gatti, Baldomir, Delahoya, then they end up like a Deer in the head lights just walking forward and eating shots all nite...

Oscar abandoned the Jab for 2 reasons...

    1) if he doubled up or tripled up on the jab he would of tired faster

    2) He would have left himself open for counters by Mayweather..

Contrary to what anyone says, Floyd stunned Oscar on at least 2 occasions and buckled his knees not enough to put Oscar in trouble but enough to earn him some respect from Delahoya.

Floyd also showed us Why his defense is by far the best in the business, yes even better than Winky, B-Hop and Toney.. Oscars power and vaunted left hook wasnt even a factor.. again his discipline, preperation and Focus in a fight is second to none..

Floyd shined bright on the biggest stage of his career inspite of the partisan crowd and Delahoya having every contractual advantage Fighting weight, Glove brand, Ring size etc ...

Floyd on Saturday night basically walked into Delahoyas house with muddy shoes and raided his fridge and dared him to do something about it ....

    Thanks Floyd

Oscar protected himself from the counters with the jab imo. I don't think that was the reason at all.

And it was no typical Floyd fight. He lost 4 or 5 rounds imo, and there are arguments out there that he lost. There haven't been any such arguments since he fought Castillo.

I agree that his defense was superb and among the best in boxing history imo, the closest thing to Whitaker without actually being Whitaker you can get. But it was no typical fight, he didn't really struggle but he lost some rounds.

It was very similar to the De La Hoya - Whitaker fight really except Floyd did not move backwards quite as much.

I was more or less making a comparison to how he made his opponent fight his fight.

    JT Rock I agree 100%

Just watching the fight for the first three rounds I felt Oscar was too strong for Floyd but he himself never seemed to lose courage for a moment. Oscar came on strong, but Floyd had him figured out by the middle rounds and finished clearly on top.

I can't think of a single fighter who can adapt better midfight to an opponent than Floyd. Even the greats like the Sugar Ray's often needed two attempts to properly figure out a guy, Floyd just learns and adapts on the fly.

We've seen it with Judah, we've seen it Oscar, for those with longer memories we saw it with Jesus Chavez. Floyd is pushed early but adapts, comes back and forces his opponent to either quit on his stool, look for a DQ to get out of the fight, or against a gentleman like Oscar force him to smile gracefully in defeat at the end.

He's top 20 all time unquestionably imo and if he fights on he should easily make the top 10.

I especially thought Mayweather hurt Oscar the most profoundly to the body in the 9th or 10th round with a left hook. CC to you

Although I totally disagree with your reasons for Oscar not using the jab(he was just too idiotic),I do believe that Floyd won fairly comfortably. Oscar had his moments but Floyd was a clear winner imo.

Can't believe I am agreeing with a bunch of Floyd nuthuggers

I think you are talking about this shot.

I agree with you completely JT PBF put a lot of his criticism to rest because he didnt run and surprised people with his chin. He took Oscar best shots and smile. He completely out boxed DLH after a few rounds because he adapted and found his spots better. It was really a great fight by Floyd.
