Mayweather: "I Would Fight Trinidad"

According to a recent report in the Newark Star-Ledger , Mayweather would be willing to come out of retirement for a potential bout with Felix "Tito" Trinidad, who also happens to be retired.Mayweather, who weighed 148-pounds on the night he won a split-decision over De La Hoya, is not worried about fighting Trinidad at 160-pounds.

"I keep telling you guys weight don't win fights," Mayweather said. "With Oscar, it was a welterweight fighting a middleweight.

am i reading this right or does he want to fight tito at 160? for once i'm going to say this could be a bit dodgy for floyd cus if the fight was made at 160 tito would have an enormous amount of power compared to floyd. also wouldfloyd going i significantly lighter against tito like he did against oscar to regain his quickness?

I like Tito, but the only chance he has in this fight is to catch Floyd flush and hopefully knock him out. That ain't happening, if Tito couldn't hit Winky, who is much less mobile than PBF, he's not hitting Floyd.

I think one thing people are overlooking is that Tito wouldnt fight below 160 so Floyd would have to move up again. Those extra pounds may slow him down abit plus 12 rounds is a long time to avoid power punches from Tito who unlike Oscar doesnt tire late on . Floyd has never met a puncher like him before so it would be interesting .

Thats a fair point, but I don't think that Floyd would come in at 160, I'd be surprised if he came into the ring above 155, he was 150 for the ODH fight right? Speed and movement will be his (PBF's) main assets in this fight, should it happen, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd weight the same as he did for the ODH fight. Tito may not have tired in the past, but he has been retired for a while, so that may affect his stamina and he'll surely be rusty. Tito has also been frusterated (Winky fight) by defensive-minded opponents, and he didn't know what to do to adapt. Once again, I like Tito, but I think Floyd schools him.

Youre probably right and I agree with your prediction but just to play devils advocate , I dont think Floyd has the power to discourage Tito . He couldnt break an egg down at super feather so he punches are guna be proper weak up at middleweight .

As I say Floyd would just play it safe and take it on points but i'd love to see a trademark Tito left hook land flush on its target and knock Floyd unconscious

I think you're probably right that Floyd doesn't have the power to hurt Tito, though it looked like he surprised ODH a couple of time with how hard he punches. I guess it goes without saying that a prime Tito vs PBF would've been a much more interesting fight.

While I do believe Tito is done...I don't see it as cherry pickin. Trinidad is a MASSIVE name & Triniad ran his mouth a little too much in HBO's 24 - 7 slot. In teh end...he should be...in all truths pitted agaist either the winner of Taylor Spinks.
