    Default Madden 2007 Rant

My cousin comes by the house once a week and we play Madden 2007 and Fight Night Round 3 all day. Anyway, he sickens me with his cheap tatics.

I cannot stand losing to him on some bullshit Haily Mary pass each and everytime we play. I cannot figure out how he gets away with it.

I will run 50 or 60 plays a game to his 25 or so because I drive up and down the field to get my points and he just throws deep bombs that get caught in the endzone. Final stats will show his QB has 9 completions and 8 TD passes or some shit close to that. His skills are a farce.

Does anyone out there know a BS Madden player like this?

i used to play with a dude who would go for it on 4th and 20+ and always convert it on some bs pass thru triple covering. If they keep beating you deep that means the team you picked has slow corners. If you wanna offset that, pick a play where both your safeties are in a deep zone to the opposite side of the field or work out of the dime or quarter (be advised if he has a good running back and can run well he will tear up a nickel dime or quarter package regardless of the play choosen).

Or you can play your secondary back a few yards before the ball is snapped or even get your linebackers back in coverage, but like punisher said, if the running game is worth a damn, your ass will get lit up in the ground...

Cheap 1 dimensional hailmary passers have been around since the Sega genesis days....

i love when i see a defense line up in the nickel. All you do is audible to a halfback slam and you're getting atleast 6 yards. I play '06 but from what i've heard '07 only has the set up your own blocks feature as an extra and in '06 the cpu sets up blocks for you pretty good so i didn't feel it was worth the buy. That and im rocking a 15 year franchise that hasn't lost a game yet on all-pro

edit: i've also had to deal with the guy who thinks michael vick is god and runs with him 60% of the time. The counter to that is having your fastest DB (wether it is a corner or saftey put them in at the number 2 spot) and do a corner zone blitz he can't run from him and the little time he has doesn't give him a chance to find a good receiver.

I posted a lenghtly repsonse to guys but I closed a pop-up and accidentaly closed the thread with it. My computer has been overtaken by pop-ups the last week. My blocker isn't working no more.

Anyway, he stops my long ball by bumping me off my route. No respect whatsoever. Makes is sick to the gut!

I use the Vikins who have 4-3 base though I prefer 3-4. My favorite defense is Nickel but I will use Dime or Qaurter when needed.

Cool Clicks for the words of advice. Though boxing is my favorite sport Madden is tops when it comes to head-to-head battle on a gaming system.

the Nickel is really not that great and if you wanna know why go watch the 49ers vs cowboys divisional championship game. It leaves you extremely vurnerable to the run and passing is not that difficult either. I prefer using a 4-3 because i have a great d-line but i hate facing 3-4 sets. TBH the 3-4 is probably the best pro defense there is because having an extra linebacker is often more useful than an extra d tackle. It shutsdown the run and pass fairly well. If you get in a situation where you need a different defense go with the quarter.

EASY.. there are a couple of ways to beat such a slacker!

#1 My favorite, TIME....use all of it! Take a team like Baltimore and run the ball and do short passes and take all day to score, use 3 or 4 downs to get a 1st down, use up all the play clock and keep the game clock running......his time SAVING play style would play right into your hands (but a word of advice.....always have a deep threat, Carolina's Steve Smith is good for that) Also if you play short quarters as most people do (not me baby, I'm 12 minute quarters[NCAA] cause when I play I like it to seem real, it helps with my play calling and such) you can use up entire quarters just by running the ball....3 yards in a cloud of dust....and the friggin play action is there all day!!!! And the draw play too

#2 On Defense use the PREVENT defense in the DIME formation....hail marry my ass.....he'll complete short passes but nothing over the top....use the Nickle for blitzing....(the nickleback blitzes and is untouched for the most part when you send a LB too)

I ususally just use the same D all the time, 4-3 blitzing the blindside LB...and I'll switch up the blitz from inside the tackle to off the end

When I run my offense I like to see if they are in man or zone (use your motion man)....if they are in man you can go deep, if they are in zone you want a post or slant behind the LB's and infront of the safety.

If they blitz a lot use the screen passes to your RB and if he starts playing those better run the play but have a WR check to a slant and it'll deffo gain yards especially if he's using that playside LB to cover the screen

on my franchise i used to only get really fast receivers but its not that important as long as they're in the low 90's they'll be pretty good. Short curl routes and running plays (pittsburghs play book on '06) let you develope long drives that will mess a defense up for the play pass and pump fakes.

I switched defensive playbooks and was able to kick a mudhole in his ass. It's all about the 3-4, baby!

He was Jacksonville and I was San Deigo. Final Score was 76 to 52 on 5 minute quarters.

Another thing that pisses me off (i play on 06) why does just about everybody start rapidly declining at age 30? My rb is 33 and his speed is down to 92 (still packs some punch but its noticeable different from 97). Its almost impossible to pull off consecutive 100 yard games (his first 160 were all 100 yard games or more). Michael vick was around forever (18 years or some shit and he still had high running speed for a qb like 75).

I always trade my star players away when they reach 30 years old. I can still get something for them and build for the future.

I started a new franchise with the Vikings and Brad Johnson retured after one season... made me sick. I am in the middle of my third season and I have Patrick Ramsey at QB and Kurt Kittner as a back up...
