    Default Anyone who says.....

Anyone who says Boxing is better than MMA can suck a dick!
After watching the De la Hoya and Mayweather fight,MMa is mos def more rewarding to watch!
1st after 12 rounds of the most hyped up boxing matchup in at least 10 years, neither guy got hurt in the whole fight!Mayweather totally dominated the fight and one judge had De La Hoya winning the fight by two rounds.I have mad respect for both boxers and love the sport but as a viewer it sucks to see two guys fight and at the end of it they look like they just worked out for an hour.I respect the art of it but I can punch someone a few hundred times in the face here on the street,If I don't hurt them than I didn't beat their ass! When you watch MMA,nine times out of ten it is easy to tell who won the god damn fight! And for the arguments about MMa vs. Boxers,Mayweather would get fucked up in MMA!I'm not taking anything away from him,he's great, but he throws 1 or 2 punches and gets out(stick and move)and he has the fastest handspeed on earth but he is not gonna knock anyone out in three punches and after those he's gettin takin down and fucked up!Plus you rent the Boxing PPV for 55$,it's advertised to go from 9 to 2am,the three fights go the distance and it's over at 12:45,whats up with that?UFC,Pride and ect are alot cheaper and without a doubt you know who is the winners!I think Boxers are some bad motherfuckers and I respect the sport but as a viewer they get payed like 5 times the money as the best MMA fighters (and boxers are in remarkable shape) and don't fight as often!I love both but now-a-days I gotta lean more towards MMA for the entertainment!!!

I don't think someone has to be knocked out,but I can't say you win a fight if you don't hurt your opponent more than he hurts you!I loved the fight and have mad respect for both but just cause you landed more pitterpat punches on me than I did you don't mean I wipped your ass!I think with wins like that it always leaves the argument open for if you really won.Lok,Mayweather definatly won the fight but Oscar still thinks he should have won.Not disagreeing with you man I loved watching the skill and stratagy, just have the question of who is tuffer, not technical!

Face facts: Boxing died last night. There will always be an audience among Hispanics, but among the majority, forget it.

I used to be a boxer myself, so I have some respect for the sport, but it's time has past.

It's the 21st century, and it's all about MMA.

Maybe I think this way because in my last fight (which I lost), if it had been MMA I would have destroyed my opponent, since I had wrestled in high school. Calling Dr. Freud...

Yeah they work so hard for fights that end in under 3 minutes . Most have horrible chins and the "action" is 95% rolling around on the ground coupled with horrible "striking" technique. The other 5% is one punch/kick ko's that could've been blocked or avoided by someone who knew wtf they were doing, one guy pinning the other guy to the ground and throwing as many punches as he can (most of which don't land but he wins the fight by stoppage anyway), and somebody pulling a body part until the other guy taps out.

Stop judging MMA by boxing standards. OKay, it's not hard to believe a passing glance at a bout as SEEMINGLY sloppily contested as some MMA fights wouldn't incite some kind of acid reflux among a boxing purist. A boxer sees wild swings combined with some kind of wrestling match, a human pretzel of arms and legs on the mat, sees Chuck Liddell's awkward stance, a squatting defilement of proper boxing technique, and believes he could take his head off. You're not stopping to think of what happens when you try and adopt pure boxing into MMA, not understanding what a leg kick does to your thighs, and not cognizant of the perpetual danger of someone trying to take your legs out from under you (much less the deep waters of jiu-jitsu). An MMAist will throw "as many strikes as he can" when hes pinned his opponent down simply because he has had to work very hard for that position and simply because he can and the opponent cannot escape. Do you really have such a lack of respect for other martial arts: "somebody pulling a body part until the other guy taps out." Do you have no conception of the work a fighter has to do in order to isolate that body part? And YEs they do work hard. A 3 minute bout may be easy in boxing, but the game changes in MMA (though the whole 3 minute bout thing is a complete exaggeration.) Grappling is tough and hard work, and keep in mind the smaller gloves. I am NOT saying MMA is somehow "superior" to boxing, I'm saying it's different and It cannot be judged by watchin a few UFC fights. MMA did not come for the sole purpose of destroying boxing or "exposing" it in some way, it is simply a different perspective of fighting and it truly deserves respect from anyone who calls themselvs a fight fan.

No disrespect mate but you are totally ignorant to what skill is needed in MMA. Going on about rolling around on the floor blah blah blah.'most have horrible chins' etc. You have no idea the skills needed to defend and transition positions on the ground, that is evident in your post. You have no idea about takedowns/throws or how to defend them. You are giving a blinkered opinion on MMA through your boxing tinted glasses.

Why don't you learn something about the sport before you post such mindless shyte.

Luckily i watched tv and all i have to do is wrap my legs around the other guys torso and assume the fetal position until the ref breaks it up or stops the fight from a flurry of punches that didn't hit me"

Richest fight in the history of boxing statistics say otherwise

    Boxing aint going nowhere!!

I could very well say MMA died with every defense of Tim Silva or Andre Arlovski's last few fights

Then Mirko gets knocked out and saves it

Please, boxing has a lot of rising stars that will be prime time in the next 4 years. The only division in trouble right now is the heavyweights but who focuses on them anyway

Well since your our resident expert on Jiu Jitsu, What would you do when all your doin is wrapping your legs around him, (which is moronic, it's called a guard and you have to controll him with your WHOLE body), and the guys gets and easy kimura, you can't do SH1T and hes about to hyperextend your arm. Or he easy passes the guard and and chokes you out with your own arm. I really don't know where your getting "most of the shots don't even land" bullcrap, that really honestly tells me you've watched one damn fight, if that. And so what, you want the guys head to be caved in before they stop the fight? I thought Jim Lampley said WE we're barbaric?

Please stop being so ignorant. I could look at boxing and say "duuhhhh . well luckily I watched alot of tv and all I have to do is puch the guy in the head." There are a lot of variables you are missing and just because you don't like the ground game, doesn't mean you have to knock it. You are the very reason why so many MMA fans are calling for boxing's head. YOu make us look ignorant and outdated. THanks for that, jaggoff.

Watching alot of tv and just punching a guy in the head? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen posted on this forum. Obviously this dickweed has never boxed in his life.

i will end my comments with this.... A skilled boxer could easily counter a take down with punches wether you wanna believe that or not its up to you but it's true. A stiff outstretched jab followed by an uppercut would end any mma fight.
