For me personally I like to see someone that's slick, but stays inside.
Paulie Malignaggi for instance, he doesn't have any power, but he's
always right there, never backing down. Also my favorite fighter
Jhonny Gonzalez fights everytime he gets the chance 35 fights and he's
only 26 I think. A big factor is someone that fights often as well.
I lose a lot of respect for ANY "Champion" that fights once a year.
there should be some kind of rule about that.

The issue of where one comes from i don't feel is necessarily the issue. I too like the fighters you mentioned (although I have only seen one Calzaghe fight and I think it was against Manfredo which was certainly not his best). But I also love to watch guys like Mayweather and Wright who show tremendous levels of skill, speed, footwork and defense. It can also be exciting to watch big punchers like Tyson and so on. Pressure fighters can be good too like Danny Green (yes i'm from Oz). Americans probably like those 2 because they are American and champions at the moment. But I take your point in that you like a particular style of fighter and are wondering if that maybe somehow that is a more popular style with English fans as opposed to the US fans. I would think it could depend on who is a champ at the time. Were the Americans hypnotized by Tyson and Roy Jones Junior at some stage?

First & foremost...two things...

#1: I'm deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerunk tiz-oo...so this should be fun.

Now...let's get to it.

Not many Americans are thrilled to admit that they are Jermain Taylor fans...so I aint sure where you comin from there.

As far as Floyd goes...most boxing fans no matter where they are from...if they know boxing they appreciate Floyd. They may not like his mouth...but they enjoy what he does. Floyd is one of the best boxers...true boxers of the game. What's funny is that you say you love Barrera, Morales, Pacquiao, Hatton, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Winky, & all those guys go out there and make the other guy look inferior, or die trying but Floyd has done that & has also remained undefeated.

The problem with Floyd is that he hasn't lost & everyone seems to wish for it day in & day out.

Floyd has fought some of the tuffest men in the game...but they get written off when Floyd faces them. Corrales & Castillo are the best examples. Two fighters that are well respected & credited for being action show stoppers...Floyd hammers them out & they aint shit.

Floyd goes out there & throws less punches...but all of them hit & he's got a better connect percentage. No one credits him for that.

It's wrong...but I have grown accustomed to it.

I like fighters who fight for the fans and for the love of the sport, who give theyre all each time out. Personality is always a factor, you kind of get jaded when its all about the cash, yeah thats great motivation when your flat broke, but what about all these millionare boxers how do they stay hungry...love of the sport.A fighters backround does factor for me, I usually pull for the underdogs.

I really have a split personality with this stuff because I know in my heart of hearts that Floyd is the most talented and gifted fighter out there, but he's the last man on the world I'd want to spend my hard earned on, and yet he's the biggest box office draw. Is it because people want to see him beat, and subconsicously the think that spending lots of money is the best way to have a chance of seeing Floyd lose?

I love Winky though, and I love B-hop too, but what is it that is so fundamentally unlikeable about the two men in my question, Mr Taylor and Mr Mayweather? He will find one point in your game,most likely one you dont think about very often
And he will change his game,just to exploit you
He exploited Tarvers useless pawing range finding jab,he exploited Holmes inherent gutlessness,he exploited Titos desire to brawl,he exploited DLH's bad body defense
He will watch tape on you,and like a scientist,he will find the cure

Bernard Hopkins would have to be my favorite boxer as far as style...hes just so crafty. Agree with you on two things...the Jones Hopkins fight.

Everyone needs to watch that one with the sound off...otherwise you might hear Lamply & Merchant chokin on Jones chicken.

Seriously...that fight wasn't near the blow out that they made it to be. Hopkins pressed Jones like no one ever had & they wouldn't credit him for shit.

Also...I agree on the POV you have on Pavlik. He's good people & down to earth with much respect for the sport & his opponents.
