Well this just says it all. It's bad enough Taylor has been going for fighters who were at their best as Welterwieghts and now he's going for RETIRED men who were at their best as Welterweights

Rough estimates of a PPV with Taylor and Tito would be a minimum of 500,000 buys at $49.95, roughly $25 million. Tito would generate the engine of the sales. Latino fans make up 40 pct. of the market place. Taylor has a scant following after so many boring fights with Hopkins, Wright, Ouma and Spinks.

But like Floyd Mayweather when he faced Oscar, huge numbers of people would buy just for the pleasure of seeing Taylor get his butt kicked, and the great Tito return in triumph.

What a crock of shit. If Taylor takes this fight...I'm done & I PRAY TO THE LORD ABOVE THAT TITO KNOCKS HIM THE FWOCK OUT!

That being said...this fight proves nothing as Trinidad is basically soft opposition now & IWO brings no credibility to Taylor's record. Hopkins & Wright both humiliated Trinidad & showed him to be a one trick poney...what Taylor thinks this will do for him is beyong me.

I'm not saying this to be disrespectful to Trinidad fans...but a tactical boxer with defensive abilities & a strong jab beats Trinidad with ease.

I would love to see Tito win though, this will be one time that I am fully backing him.

Now as far as the numbers go...they don't need to get their hopes up for numbers like those in the prediction.

    for the info Puya.

This is speculation it has to be. Tito is way out of fighting shape, over 200 lbs probably. Roberto Duran would be better suited to fight right now

WHY? It doesn't make sense considering Taylor needs to prove himself decisively in the current state of the middleweight division. He's not Roy Jones, Jr. or Bernard Hopkins so he can't just start thinking of other divisions or other insignificant fighters before he's cleaned out the division. It may work for Mayweather, but Taylor is no Mayweather either. I like Taylor for his charisma and boxing ethic, but his newly acquired agenda (focusing more on the money than a legacy) leaves something to be desired. Pavlik (a better option) or a possible rematch with Wright (less of an option given that Wright is also a known former junior middleweight fighter) is the only thing standing in his way of middleweight supremacy so why not dispense with those fight options and then move on to bigger and better things. Trinidad need not play himself because the only return to the ring anybody wants to see is against De La Hoya (Hopkins and Wright will always be too much for him) and we know De La Hoya is nothing at 160 lbs. (watch Sturm and Hopkins fights for proof) so that match-up is but a dream. I wanted Miranda to win, but Taylor needs to step up out of this 'I'm only chasing money and former junior middleweights' zone and work on the legacy given his ascension in the middleweight ranks from his win over Hopkins.

If Taylor cared about what the real boxing world thought he wouldn't have fought his last two fights?? Ouma was just supposed to be an easy knock out to build his self esteem. Didn't happen. Then he fought someone who Zab Judah knocked out to build his confidence. Didn't happen. Taylor has lost several of his last fights IMO and is on the way down. He made it a long way with what he had though.

Taylor seems to be really badly managed imo. When he won the title people were proclaiming him the future and were only to keen to get behind him.

He seemed at first to be a fighter's fighter, someone who would take on anybody and wanted a legacy more than a safe financial income of fighting stiffs.

But it seems that after almost losing to Winky something changed. He doesn't want the big fights now, he wants big money fights for minimum risk. He's now playing the sport as a business and is more of an investment banker than a fighter it seems.

I get the feeling that Taylor has a big heart and is wanting to prove himself, but his people clearly have doubts about his talent it seems. First Ouma, then Cory, now they want Trinidad?

It's almost as if his promoter knows he's likely to lose when he steps up again and so wants to get as much cash as safely as possible now.

And we used to think Calzaghe was bad

Maybe the fact that Calzaghe wants Taylor should be a sign of how shit people in the know think he really is :P
