How do you install internet access on to a laptop please?

Just be the CD into the Drive? I think it's loacted on the side of the laptop.

plug your phone line into the back of it?

First of all, you will need, if you don't have one already, a network card for your laptop. Do you have one? I believe they still call them PCMCIA network cards.

What exactly are you trying to do gam?

DO you have a Pc (desk top) that runs the internet? are you trying to add your lap top to a network?

Are you trying to run the internet on the laptop only at one time?

Are you trying to make it wirless? do you have a wirless router?

Whos your ISP? (internet service provider i.e AOL)

My understanding is that cable requires no additional software or config, whereas ADSL does. Cable should use straight TCP/IP. So you plug the modem into the wall, run a cable from the network card to the modem, make sure your network connection is set to obtain an IP address automatically, and you should be set to go. Also, if this is a standalone computer, you should probably disable file and printer sharing for security purposes.
