    Default Miguel Cotto's Chin

After watching a fantastic fight Cotto v Judah ( by the way i was impressed with zab's chin in that fight ) i couldnt help but think that Cotto riminded me of felix Trinidad.
I mean not in his style but his chin.
Ok i will explain BOTH Cotto and Felix were rocked often in fights but always seem to come back and it does seem to take much out of the gas tank when hurt.
Everytime Zab rocked Miguel 3-4 seconds later Cotto fired back with real power just like Felix used to.
Miguel may not be fast of foot also like Felix but is an exciting warrior and will thrill us for many years win or loose.
I am and English guy and try as i might i just cant see how Ricky Hatton could beat Miguel , i think hes just to strong for Ricky.
Please guys give me your views on my post as i value your opinions

I think there's one difference between Cotto's chin and Tito's...

While Tito went down a ton of times, I can't ever remember a knockdown where he was really wobbly or hurt, prior to the Bhop fight.
Whenever he got knocked down, even if it was off a clean punch, he was never badly wobbled, as far as I can remember.

Whereas Cotto has been down fewer times, but when he has gone down, he's been badly wobbled. And he was really wobbled against Corley, even though he didn't go down.

I think Cotto's chin is strong enough. It's not made of iron, but it's not bad either. Which is the same way I felt about Tito.

yeah he has been wobbled a couple of times, but he has only been down once and that was clearly a push-like knock down.

Cotto has been down ONCE and it was a puch. We'll see the true extent of his ability to take a punch when he fights the winner of PW and Tony.

Being that I am a pretty big Cotto fan...I think that it's high time we all admit that Cotto's chin does raise questions...but his heart seems to answer them everytime.

When Cotto get's cracked it seems to light a fire under his ass & jump start him into place.

I will ALWAYS worry about Cotto until he makes it to the bell...but isn't that what fans are for?

Yes, Cotto's chin is very similar to Tito's.

Even down to how they like to hit guys low when they are rattled (see Vargas fight for Tito) - must be a Peurto Rican thing?

His chin is decent but ihs heart is excellent thats what has saved him im big Cotto fan aswell bit worried how he was shook up by Corley but Corley even shook up Mayweather in there fight aswell so maybe i shouldn't be worried because Torres was a banger i still think Cotto beats everyone except Mayweather.

I thought he was down twice against Torres, my mistake I guess.... sorry to get your panties all in a bunch.

Either way, my point still stands. Tito went down a ton of times, but I never saw him wobbled until the Hopkins fight. On the other hand, Cotto does a much better job of staying on his feet, but he has twice been badly wobbled.

I made a comparisson between Gatti and Cotto a long time ago.

Its not particularly clever but it is striking how wild & coragous Cotto can get when hurt.
What my reasoning was, the apparent lack of boxing smarts Cotto has displayed upon getting rattled.

One day, when Cotto faces a guy with a Solid chin, he'll suffer.

I think Cotto's Chin has gotten better at Welterweight, he stronger and less drained so his body, legs etc. are sturdier

I agree. He never seemed to have his legs completely under him at 140, whereas he looks incredibly strong at 147.

Let's not question his chin....his style leaves him open to counters and big shots

    BUT

The guy comes to fight....he could tighten that defense up and fight cautiously but no he's a true warrior and he goes out there for the kill every round.

He's a bigger, tougher, stronger Arturo Gatti and I think he's a true throwback to the likes of Lamatta, Basillio, and Fullmer.

Sure Miguel will get hit and hurt and knocked down but whoever he fights will know they have been in a fight whether Miguel wins or not
