    Default Ricky Hatton

my view on Ricky Hatton now..

I was very happy with his victory with Jose Luis Castillo and I was surprised at how fast he stopped him. After that i can safely say he is the best at 140 in the world!

I feel now because of that I can look down at the 140 weight class and say who really is there to challenge Ricky and really push his legacy? There is nothing there at all that spring to mind, the only fight i would like to see be made if it had to be would be Paulio Malignaggi. Even so I feel this is a backwards step from Castillo and it would only assert Ricky as the best at 140.

Ive been thinking to myself today, reading all of these articles about Mayweather, cotto or De La Hoya fighting him next, this would be amazing for Ricky. But I believe if Ricky wants to make this happen at 147 he should get back there and fight Luiz Collazo again. I feel if he did this he would have a full drive from that close to fight to fully show that this one fight was a one off. I feel by him doing this he can prove FULLY! to all the critics that he can handle 147 and he would be fully focused against Luiz because he knows what he is capable of.

By Him making this move he would be fully prepared at 147 and would get another feel for the weight. I dont feel that Cotto or Mayweather would go down to 140 and if they did they would make up excuses to why they lost to Hatton about weight etc etc. I personally feel at this stage at 147 Mayweather and Cotto are a bit too good for Hatton. So this is why I feel that he should go back to 147 and have another fight with Luiz C, which IMO is far from a tune up. It would show us all that Ricky is capable of matching them and it would show that he can hang with the big guns once again.

So IMO i think it should go like this for Hatton.....

    1) Back to 147 and fight Luiz Collazo
    2) Offer a fight to Cotto and it would be a battle which I believe he could win. i would want this fight to take place in the USA to fully back Hatton for an ultimate showdown with Mayweather
    3) Mayweather at wembly would be Rickys hardest ever but the best fight we could hope to see for Ricky and he would need this to be at Wembly. I think it would draw so much attention and i fully believe there could be an upset somewere with the full British public behind him and the motivation of a full wembly crowd screaming him on.

I just feel if Hatton could do that he would truely be remember as a great, even if he loses to Floyd i would always remember him for the man trying to beat the best of his era and i know that he would turn up for the best motivation ever to try and beat Floyd. Im not saying Cotto is a pushover at all but i believe if Ricky knew that Floyd at wembly was the prize that i do feel he could beat him.

I think you've got it spot on there mate. A fight with PBF now is at the wrong point in his career, a tune up at 147 is needed and why not a rematch with collazo would be perfect. Then offer the fight to cotto, win that and a huge mega might with floyd, easier said than done.

if he lost to floyd he still goes down as a great fighter and thats not just in the UK, if he wins he could carry on for a few more fights and u have got a whole new scenario there.

I dont see Hatton beating Cotto but It hard to say since Hatton has never been beat who knows what his limits are. The way Cotto spanked Juda just makes me wonder who could beat him .

I think it would be a good fight and that why i feel he now needs to get back to 147 and see how he will get on. Cotto-Hatton would be a thriller and i would love to see it and lets hope it does happen because it would draw a lot of attention to boxing!

I agree that a Hatton-Cotto fight at 147 would be ideal, because even if he doesn't win it would a good competitive fight, and could lead to one of our great rivalries in boxing. And the only thing HAtton has to lose is his '0', which at the end of the day is no great shakes when you look at the world's great fighters.

i feel a loss of hatton now could be extreamly damaging, he's a the pinicle of his career, but as long as he doesnt get beaten in a bad way suppose he could come back.
