Default Newb - Finding a trainer for one on one

How would you guys go about doing this? I was thinking about running an ad in the paper but I'm kinda worried I might get some yahoo who doesn't know jack S. I'm somewhat embarrassed about joining a gym and my work schedule really wont allow me to anyways. My arms are noodle like and just throwing punches at the heavy bag etc makes me feel awkward, theres nothing explosive or powerful in them its all sloppy. I hope that goes away... Its day 1. Thanks

join a gym. everyone knows shit on their first day. don't worry about it.

and when you join a gym, a GOOD gym will have guys that will work with you for free, as part of your membership dues. If they charge above and beyond, tell them to F off. Gleason's is a perfect example of a rip-off.

    Hiya !!

Dont worry about your condition, we all have to start from somewhere ! Get a listing of the boxing gyms in your area, go to all of them, find out if they charge, and stay at each gym and observe the trainers. If the trainers are actively working with the boxers, then consider them. However, get to know these trainers because just because they are working with boxers doesnt mean they know boxing, See if they have any star fighters in the gym, golden glove winners, national champs, pros, and if they do, talk to them, see what they have to say about the gym and trainers. You never posted where you were from, maybe someone can help here and let you know if the gym you are considering is legit or not. I know the Clairton Boxing Club has 16 golden glove champs, 2 of which were nationally ranked, and one pro, and it looks like we might have another comming soon, We dont charge a penny, we are all in it for the love of the sport, so look around because their are some very good gyms out their....Good luck !!!

to the thread starter....don't be embarrass man...i just started about 3 days ago....I'm in pain...real sore....

i entered the gym with no boxing boxing knowledge...i had/have a background in Martial Arts but it meant nothing...nobody is an expert in the beginning...

I'm 6''3 185lbs my arms are like noodle too....i was clumsy with my footwork...my jabs were all over the place....i was exhausted quite fast....this is expected....you should just join the gym and work hard man....most gyms have trainers....i feel that if you want a personal boxing trainer your expectations are more than getting fit and you probably want to be competitive....

i was extremely frustrated in the beginning...its natural to be a fu#k up...after a couple of months and/or weeks you will laughing at this thread....good luck....
