Default In regards to calzaghe vs hopkins...

I know people are interested by what has been said, but before we all get into a big disccusuion of whats what we need to remeber joe has to get past kessler first..

At this stage of his carrer this is a big big test for Joe to get by, and is by no means a cert to beat him... as for the war of the words, they are just that, words... Joe knows he has kessler next and anyone and everyone else is not on his mind

I wouldn't read much into what either says, It wont be long before Hopkins is calling out a heavyweight anyhow...

Calzaghe says he is focused on Kessler because its a real fight! Then after he see's of Kessler then he will look at Bhop. http://www.fightnews.com/boxing/bc/1485.htm

    Well said

A couple of times in moments of drunken bravado I have declared that Calzaghe will annihilate Kessler. The sober me realises that this may very well not be the case. Kessler is somewhat of an unknown quantity. Yes, Ive seen his fights. But his level of opposition isnt really that stellar. Beyer has been struggling against mediocre opposition for a while. Andrade hasnt fought anyone of real note. A win over Mundine does not make a fighter.

Kessler hasnt needed to dig deep yet. Calzaghe will make him dig deep. There is the considerable chance that Kessler will wilt under the pressure. There is also the possibility that he will rise to the occasion and the older fighter will in turn have to dig deep somewhat.

I think Calzaghe has plenty left in the tank and can beat Keslser. I also think there is the chance that he could do it in some style too.

Calzaghe is right to be focussing on Kessler. He didnt seem focussed against Bika and wasnt at his sharpest against Manfredo. A focussed Calzaghe is a demon. I hope he can show us his finest form one more time. If he is able to be anything near his best then Kessler is gonna have to raise his game and show an awful lot of heart to stay in the fight.

    I cannot wait!!!!

Calzaghe agreed to box Hopkins years ago and he signed the contract, but the big fucking coward Hopkins chickened out.
