Default Who is the best lightheavyweight of all time??

Well to tell you the truth i think that Michael Spinks was the best lightheavywieght he held all the titles at one time and did defend one of the belts being wba belt 11 times and beat every one pretty easy and was undefeated as lightheavywieght. Also he had alot of power at Lightheavyweight and his akward way of fighting was hard for many opponents so he's my pick for the best buts thats just me.

Spinks is a good pick. I like RJJ, and Michael Moorer.

Spinks would have drilled Jone Jr at 175. People forget how good Spinks was because of the 90 second Tyson blowout. At 175 he was probably the best ever, no worse than top three (you could argue for Charles and Moore over him).

To me i think Spinks could beat Charles, Jones, Moorer and i put this way if he fought them 10 times i thinke he win 70 percent of the time at least like i said again i think his style was wierd and he had alot of power at lightheavyweight if i had to put the top 4 it would be Spinks,Charles,Moore, jones i think jones is great but i think he lose to the 3 above but the only one i say convincingly would be Spinks

Gene Tunney - took on and beat top 10 heavyweight champ of all time Jack Dempsey, took on and beat Harry Greb in a rematch....he was THE REAL DEAL

Billy Conn - took on and nearly beat GREATEST heavyweight of all time Joe Louis

Bob Foster - had the balls to take on Joe Frazier....didn't do well but he was damned good otherwise

Roy Jones Jr. - very good but didn't fight THE BEST

Ezzard Charles - beat a number of guys and is

Joey Maxim - very good, tough hard worker much like Carmen Basilio...underrated

Archie Moore - very tough and very skilled, took on all comers!

....no not really but Foster would give everyone a tough time as would Tunney.

I'm not high on Spinks being the best light heavy all time....he's up there but he's not the best.

RJJ - Spinks may have been close but Michael just didn't have the power of Roy....only 21 KO's in 31 wins and Roy usually just toyed with the guys he didn't KO....though the skill level wasn't the best as I said before

i think roy's chin comes in to question when fighting spinks and as far as tunney goes he was pretty old school but still was a atg and bob was amazing to but i still sticking with spinks but you have very good points lyle thanks for the post cc

I'm not sure abotu who I would say is the best out of accomplishments, but I will say this: I'd take RJJ over any 175lber that ever lived. Spinks and Charles were great but Roy was in a class of his own.

How is rjj higher then spinks and charles how would he beat them spinks was quick and roy jones jaw might break if he gets hit by spinks but yet again my thoughts just asking how would roy do it i like to have a answer like is it his speed or his style i mean spinks and charles were in a class of there own aswell and had more success at higher wieghts, i am just looking for more roy was in a class of his own all those men lyle listed were in a class of there own when they were in their era that just good enough answer to me

Bob Foster would be Roy's toughest test....a tall rangey fighter with loads of power, 56 wins and 46 KO's....sure he got KO'd 6 times himself but that was vs heavyweights mainly, including ALI and JOE FRAZIER

Gene Tunney would be tough for his power, boxing skill, and just all around toughness...but his boxing skill was the best of the bunch....he could outbox brawlers and out power the defensive fighters.

RJJ - Charles would still be very tough to call because they are similar style fighters though I think Ezzard was a little tougher and stuck to business as Roy tended to gloat and let his opponent get punches off....not that it usually ended up hurting him until he came back down from heavyweight.

RJJ - Archie Moore would be fun to watch but I think it would be liek watching RJJ - James Toney.
