    Default Geeks...in here

One of the best computer games I've ever played was UFO Enemy Unknown.

I've seen it tonight - downloaded the DOS version and a DOS emulator called DOS Box...but I've not a clue what I'm doing next.

    Anyone help out ol'Steelie?

If you do have the emulator and rom downloaded 100% successfully just play it, load it up. You should be able to click on it and scroll down to play or something like that.

The F buttons help you "save states". Basically you can save a game at any point in time as long as you save it to one of ten states. F3 chooses a state, F2 saves it and F4 loads it. So if you know you're about to go into a boss battle and what not (with good health), hit f2 then after you die against it hit F4 and have another go at it.

Getting nostalgic over old games is not usually a good idea.

I downloaded a few old Spectrum games which in my youth I remembered as highly as something like Bioshock or Halo 3 today.

Trust me Head over Heels, Gunfight, Carrier Command and Lord's of Midnight ain't what they used to be

The Sonic games are still reasonable though, I grew up with ZX-81's and Spectrum 48 k's. It's incredible just how bad those games look now yet I still remember them being the greatest and most inventive games of all time.

Sabatuer has in my mind never been beaten and Splinter Cell and its ilk are pale imitiations. Battlefield 2142 is nothing compared to Carrier Command and Turbo Esprit was a better game than Grand Theft Auto.

That's how I used to remember it anyway........until I downloaded an emulator pack one day and had most of my childhood memories ruined

The Sega consoles though are a lot more modern than the games of my youth.

I don't know how to use DOS at all. The downloaded file is a zip file with lots of other folders in it

I've downloaded one of the more upto date sequels anyway

Did anyone have Skool Daze on the Speccy?
God I'd love a windows version of that as I don't understand emulators and all the rest of it.

That game was class. I used to write swear words on the blackboard, shoot the teachers with my catapult and bash the swot who grassed you up all the time. Great.
