    Default Penelosa wants Arce,Vic.

WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud says he has convinced newly crowned WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa not to fight super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon because he is “too big and too strong” for the smaller, 35 year old Filipino southpaw.

Penelosa promised him he would not so it appears there won't be a Ponce-Gerry rematch.

Salud said if he makes $200,000 to $300,000 it will be good and Penalosa could then retire.

That's odd, Ponce didn't look too big and strong for him in their first fight. But I guess he doesn't want to go back up to 122.

I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Luis Perez. Perez isn't a great fighter by any means but he's pretty solid overall and that would be a pretty good fight. Other than that there's Hasagawa but Perez would probably be a more winnable fight for Penalosa.

Arce and Vic don't seem like reasonable options.

I heard they were trying to put Arce-Martin Castillo on the undercard of Cotto-Mosley. Not sure if that worked out though.

Penelosa-Arce would be a good fight. He should fight De Leon again.

Salud is a really really good friend of Penelosa's,they used to be really close so if Penelosa says he's not fighting Ponce,I doubt he will now. I think Gerry could easily outbox Arce and Vic to be honest and they would be big paydays. I don't think the Perez or Hasegawa fights will come off unless he can't get any of the other mentioned fights.

Anyone seen Hasegawa? I haven't,can someone describe his style please?

Boxer vs Brawler. Boxer usually prevail. Just ask Arce or Vic.

I think Penalosa vs Arce or Vic would be great fights with the edge to Pena... I imagine both Vic and Arce have planned on moving up to bantamweight though?? Arce certainly should, he weighs in at 130+ on fight night, can't be good for him to make super fly for long...

that is odd ponce didn't look at all strong or much bigger. I hope for a ponce rematch I don't think penalosa should spend his last fight on two annoying losers (vic, arce) theirs nothing to prove against those two. if the ponce rematch isn't gonna happen, get mijares or hell filipino vs filipino for a change nonito penalosa. that could be big, the young gun nonito vs the venom vetaren penalosa. They can call it holding on or passing on the torch they are both champs so it makes sense unify baby

That'd be a good one. It wouldn't be a very marketable fight but it's going to be a small version of Chavez-Dela Hoya. Fil vs Fil-Am. I'll be cheering for Gerry!

Am uncomfortable with Filipino vs Fil-Am. It creates division in the country. It won't be an interesting match-up.

yeah, both donaire and penalosa are good guys. i'd rather see gerry try to unify against sidorenko or hasegawa. i'm not saying sidorenko or hasegawa are baddies but if you're going to pit two filipinos against each other it would be more interesting if one is despiteful.
