I'm a boxing fan all my life so far and will be for the remaining years of my life. My interest was sparked at an early age as i was introduced to boxing through the medium of videos of Heavyweights in the Golden era. I was exposed to fighters such as Liston, Patterson, Frazier, Norton, Foreman, Quarry and of Course Ali. This embossed the heavyweight divisions repuatation in my mind. For a number of years Heavyweight boxing WAS boxing in my mind.
However, recent heavies fail to spark the imagination. Dull fights, out of condition competitors and senseless politics taint a division which is currently in a state of urban blight.
I am referring to the world heavyweight scene in the above statement, so you can imagine my despair at the domestic UK division.
Sprott, Skelton, Williams, Gammer and even HARRISSON are front runners!!!!
Williams is game, got a massive heart and kind persona, but lacks skil.
Sprott another game fighter lacks size to impose at world level.
Gammer seems to be living in boxing wilderness, even by UK standards.
Harrisson is the biggest disappointment ever to graduate the Amateur school.
And then there is Skelton.
A guy with a good heart, decent chin and power. His skills are poor yet he has worked on them and showed a small improvement in his last outing. His speed and combination punching is minimal but he is making efforts to improve.
I think that is why i say he is potentially best he is making the effort to improve and is having small successes.
