Default How is Pavlik NOT Fighter of the Year?

I don't care what happens in Mosley-Cotto or Mayweather-Hatton, there's NO way Pavlik loses Fighter of the Year to anyone. Not one, but TWO knockouts over fighters he was the underdog against, and the second being against a guy who didn't look like he could be KOd at 160, let alone as early as 7.

If Hatton can beat Floyd it will be close for FOTY, but as of now I see PavMan being the MAN right now.

as of now I would give my vote to Pavlik but if cotto knocks out mosley then I belive its a toss up between the two of them as he will have knockouts over a legend and a really talented but inconsistent zab judah

I clearly have underestimated "the Ghost" amazing comeback. That was a great fight. I really hope that Calzaghe vs Kessler will be as dramatic

The difference in Pavlik and Hatton is that Hatton has already established himself as a champion. He beat JLC in dramatic fashion and the Hatton name has been around for a while now. Prior to the Miranda fight Pavlik flew underneath everyones radar . Not too many people even heard of the kid. So that being said what would be more impressive. A guy who has belts and may possible win another fight to the one of the p4p greats while he himself is one of the p4p greats. Or a long shot that no one really heard of scoring three ko's one from a guy who has never been knocked out of ever scene the canvas (Zertuche)
before. Then going on to beat the most intimidating guy(Miranda) in the weight class . Then in conclusion being a Cinderella story by being trained by a asphalt sealer and Knocking out the champ in 7 rounds. That is almost poetic.

    Pavlik fighter of the year.

Cotto is probably guy who can challenge Pavlik, and that's only if he Cotto-Mosley is a thrilling fight on par with Taylor-Pavlik.

If Floyd completely destroys Hatton in a round or two, he'd be tough to beat for fighter of the year, but what are the chances of that happening? Not good.

I don't see it as being that clear cut... I mean what if Mosley knocks out Cotto?? That would be one hell of a year for him, coming back into the WW division with a win over Collazo, an excellent fighter, and then beating Cotto... Seeing as he really hasn't had a mega win since DLH some five years ago that would be one hell of a comeback.. Or if Cotto beats him impressivly he could take it... Mayweather is also very much a possibility with having wins over Baldo Oscar and Hatton in the year... Not to mention if Hatton beats him he'd be the likely choice.. For now it's definetly Pavlik and it may stay that way, but there are two fights which could easily change that imo..

If any fighter beats Floyd they become fighter of the year by default imo. I doubt Ricky will do it though so Pavlik must be favourite.

Cotto or Mosely are not THE man in their divisions so a win over each other doesn't put them ahead of Pavlik.

I'd say only Hatton can beat Pavlik for fighter of the year but he won't beat Floyd so it's going to go to Pavlik.

Of course Floyd would have a great argument for being FOTY himself with a win over Hatton to add to his win over Oscar De La Hoya but as we all know he's held to a higher standard than any normal fighters so would probably have to KO Kelly Pavlik to even get considered.

I think Mayweather should deserve it after he beats Hatton soundly. He totally outboxed Oscar(who won 3 or 4 rounds in the fight), and then he will beat Hatton quite badly. He has stepped up his opposition, and clearly deserves it if he can ko Hatton.

Like there was any doubt you weren't going to pick mayweather lol, even though he hasn't had his fight yet.

If Hatton beats Mayweather the he will be fighter of the year no doubt as Mayweather is world #1. If Mayweather beats Hatton convincingly he will be fighter of the year as beating Oscar and Hatton is special. If Cotto Ko's Mosley the he will be fighter of the year if Mayweather wins a boring UD but if Mosley wins the Pavlik will be as i dont really rate Collazo hes been hyped up as he pushed Hatton but that was due to Hatton being out of his depth weight wise.

I didn't think Mayweather deserved it last year, and I don't think he deserves it yet this year. If Pacquaio's fight with Morrales had been a month or two later I think if he beats Barrera he would deserve again no question. Pavlik however hasn't done anything all that impressive to me, Taylor shot himself in the foot, and Miranda was overhyped.

Beating an old Barrera who he already beat and is the hot favorite to beat Barrera again makes him fighter of the year ?? unless i read it wrong and you mean if he had beat Morales for 3rd time in 2007 and Barrera in 2007.

And as for your Pavlik comments that sounds like sour grapes to me.

Because there's atleast 5 fighters ahead of him who have already done more than him and they all have upcoming fights to make their lead even greater.

Actually there are no fighters who have 'already' done more than him.

Pavlik destoyed the number one middleweight contender in the world, and then destroyed the number one middleweight in the world.

Correct me if I'm wrong but no other fighter has acheived more than that already this year, if so who?

Now Ricky has a shot IF he beats the p4p number 1 in the world in Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd has a shot IF he beats the undisputed lightweight champ in Ricky Hatton to add to his victory over 154 champ and all time great Oscar De La Hoya.

But tell me who are the five who have 'already' done more than Pavlik because I can't think of one.

A dark horse though could be Mormeck if he beats Haye, beating the undisputed champ Bell and number one contender in the same year would be a big feat.
