Default Watching Pavlik Made me think of

Diego Corrales. To get sent down, and hurt pretty bad....then to find something inside himself that says "no, not here, not now" and do what he did was incredible. Finaly..if this doesn't light a fire under every other boxer's ass i dont know what will. Bravo Kelly pavlik. You deserve everything that comes your way!

I doubt he could've got up if he took the punches Jermain took Wink

Pavlik was more stunned...he was in a bad spot no doubt with JT trying to unload on him after he got up. But of the 3 punches that put him down none looked too devastating.

Jermain on the other hand had his face contorted by Pavlik's right hand then took a couple uppercuts and a left hook to the head on the way out.

sorry but, jermaine hurt him. If taylor took the right approach after the knockdown he could of ended that fight.
Anyways, i thought of diego during the 7th round

Pavlik was really out on his feet. He had nothing. If Taylor would have concentrated on accuracy and not allowing pavlik to hold he would have easily knocked Pavlik out. This is the best possible setup for a rematch. The drama.

I dont think Taylor will rebound from this one well. I think Pavlik really got in his head so id go with Pavlik in a rematch for sure.

Wasnt hurt? put the bottle down man, your wasted. Kelly Pavlik said himself in the interview that he was hurt bad by taylor, he said and I quote......"He caught me good, I was in deep trouble, his punches feel like getting kicked by a mule" all words from pavliks mouth in the post fight interview with larry merchant. Both got hurt, both can punch, both can take a punch....IMO, there is no question they are the top 2 middleweights at this time.

He was hurt. I never said he wasnt hurt. He wouldnt have went down if he wasn't hurt.

I'm saying he got up at what...a one...two count? He was wobbly, he was hit hard, he needed time to recover. He was stunned. The most dangerous moment came after he got up and had to get through the wild punches taylor was trying to finish him with.

But there was no way Jermain was getting up. That was a different caliber of punch landed. The slow-motion of Pavlik's right hand landing on Taylor was something sick.

I agree Taylor will rebound. I think he's always been a bit afraid of being KO'd or losing like that. I think it's held him back a bit. Now that it is out of his system he may be able to relax a bit in the ring and not being so tense and wasteful.

I dont agree with the judges scorecards, but Taylor was on his way to a UD. I thought Taylor was the one picking up the pace and Pavlik was starting to lose a little steam when the KO happened. But it could have been Pavlik was the more relaxed fighter and was just pacing himself more.

Great fight , no complaints here!

I don't think he was afraid of getting knocked out. He was just impatient and can't mentally wait to wear a fighter down, thats one of the reasons he gasses.

I picked Taylor to win. But after the second round I was holding my head and shaking it and the words Pavlik said rang in my head and those words were "Taylor will fade" ...

I think its going to be hard for him to come backstrong because hes already fought the best and hes already been champion and made some money. Hes never going to get back to where he was. His best move is to establish himself a a super middleweight. But I still am not sure how sucessful he would be at that weight when he no longer has that size advantage hes be used to.

If he just got beat, then he hasn't beaten the best yet

Good point. Hopefully he will look at it like that too.... In an interview I read the other day taylor said that he wasnt interested in a rubber match with Hopkins. He said rubber match which seemed odd to me, so maybe in his mind he had already lost a fight. So maybe he learned how to lose from that fight but who knows.

Just what I was thinking, JT had the luxury of always being the bigger man in the ring now he fought somebody his size even a bit larger. Well IMO JT still has the ability to beat Pav, JT is still the faster guy who can bring punches in bunches and probably better skill.

he may have better skill, but does he use it? one thing that pavlik has done better than JT is finishing off an opponent. Both guys were dead on their feet. But pavlik took the time to finish the fight. While JT looked like he didnt know what to do after the knockdown.
If you ask me, Pavlik showed me that he has more skill at ending a fight.
