Default Marco Antonio Barrera appreciation thread

Assuming he stays retired that's the last time we'll see him fight. I have to say that it's been a privilege to watch one of the all-time great fighters and I hope he has a long and happy retirement. God bless, MAB.

The Morales fights were the highlight for me, that and him banging Naseem Hamed's head off the ringpost.

He's well known as a dirty fighter, and he retired as dirty fighter.

I enjoyed watching his trilogy with Erik. His unforgetable fights with McKinney and Hamed... and I thank him for those.

Sorry but IMO, he retired with low dignity.

This isn't about one fight out of 70, this is to appreciate a fighter who gave us so many fantastic memories.

Josef, I was actually trying to say the same thing but not in the way you are trying to discredit Pacman (hope I'm wrong).Saying that Barrera did not do his best that's why he lose is somewhat implying that Pacman is not a good fighter. Remember that Barrera is fighting a peak Pacman. Barrera was fighting Pacman with the same style against Naz but Pac was clearly superior in the later rounds.

no way. i dont discredit pac. he did what he had to do tonight. he could have pressured more but he respects barerras skill and i can respect that. i think pac did the best he could tonight. it was mab that wasnt making a fight out of it. he was to anxious not to get knocked out he forgot that hes suppose to redeem himself. all aside, i still appreciate what he did for boxing especially for ending the prince's career.

    muchas gracias marco!

We all love MAB but if Ali fought Klitschko tommorow it wouldn't tell us a whole lot would it?>> Same concept.

I appreciated mab most for the hamed fight even though he didn't k.o that little bastard he did embarrase him for 12 rounds.

I know a lot of people said mab was more hungry this time around than pac is, but to me it didn't seem like mab was willing to take much risk. I hate to say it but atleast eric went out blazing.

cheers to marco, may he enjoy his retirement and his legacy live on. I have him top 5 in my mexican greatest fighter. thank you for all of the fights you made us enjoy. one of my favorite quotes ever included eric and marco.

"eric morales has never lost a fight, and marco antonio barrera has never wanted one more then this" (something like that)

it would be great if mab and eric could just be friends so we can finally have world peace

The fight was a fucking waste and you all know it!!!The fucking fight was 3 years late. Might as well been a decade. Give it up. MAB wanted a final cash in.
