    See...now I'm just the opposite.

I like Mora (not as a person) in the ring. He's got game & he can put his punches together...but he needs to be humbled.

He got 1million dollars and a fake title for beating 4 journeymen(i really hesitate to put this slash but i suppose it is necessary)/fringe "contenders" . There's people in legit title matches against legit opposition that don't make that much. How can you be down to earth after that?

Why do people hate Sergio Mora so much?

And can the person who gives that answer mention more then Sergio talking trash to Manfredo's father on the season finale..

See I really don't see him as being arrogant at all. He's just confident in himself and rather like Jermain Taylor sometimes has to stand up for himself during interviews as he obviously feels the pressure of being labelled a 'reality tv' club fighter and not a real professional.

A lot of people said that Jermain Taylor became arrogant after winning his titles over Hopkins but I never saw that. Rather he was speaking in defiance of all the critics who questioned the worthiness of his reign and whether his some of his victories were fair judging.

Sergio gets the same deal, pretty much ridiculed by being the 'Contender' champion his name is a source of amusement to many and in his interviews he speaks confidently and stands up for himself and his own credibility as a fighter.

If you watched the Contender show I really don't see what there is about him not to like. A poor kid growing up he refused to get involved in any of the house bitching unlike the Brinkley's, Ishe Smith's and Manfredo's etc. He was fighting to provide a better life for himself and his family and wanted to do well so his elderly mother could stop working.

He was also well read, hard working and belived he had the tools to win.

I always liked him on the show and have grown to respect him as a fighter thanks to his performances since.

He reminds me very much of Paulie Malignnagi, a fighter who was loathed by almost everybody until his fight with Cotto showed a toughness of spirit and fighting heart that earnt the respect of fight fans and whom now mostly like the guy.

I genuinley see the same happening with Sergio. I think he will get a title shot against a big name like Pavlik, there will be hundreds of threads on here before hand saying how he's going to get killed and people saying they can't wait until he gets KTFO.

Then the fight will take place and Sergio will suprise everybody (except me and Danny_G) and give Pavlik a really tough fight for 12 rounds, finishing the fight and overcoming tremendous punishment to make it to the end losing a close decision.

I really believe that's how Sergio's future will pan out, and trust me I'll be on here when it happens to remind you all!

I didn't even know about him trash talking to manfredo's dad in the season finale . I hate him because he thinks he's the man and here is his resume:

    20 fights
    5ko's
    no noteable competition
    1million dollar hand-out from a reality show

Now I ask you, why do you like him? Any reason is fair game for this question.

Do you mean you should only like people when they display a certain level of greatness and achievement and that until they achieve they shouldn't be respected at all and only be loathed universally? If so I'd hate to live in your world.

As for bringing up his KO record, you can look at that another way. He doesn't knock people out BUT he still wins all of his fights, if he's not relying on power (clearly) then in order to win he must have superior speed, boxing craft and skills.

For such fans who appreciate the pugilistic arts such fighters can be very entertaining to watch. Just watch Ivan Calderon's last fight against Hugo Cazares or Juan Diaz to see that power isn't everything.

No, i'm saying if you're gonna parade yourself around as the best thing on earth, have something to back it up. It's not about me giving or not giving respect, it's about him knowing his place in the sport by what he's done so far and keeping it in perspective. He turned down a title shot that he honestly didn't earn which goes ahead and blows away that whole philosophy that the contender guys are just waiting for their shot. He just waits for the easy money, he doesn't wanna a peice of any real threat. Pavlik could ofer him 25mil and that mfer would probably decline. He doesn't do jack until about the last 20-30 seconds of a round. At that point he throws paper flurries that causes no damage but usually steal him the round from the judges. There's a huge difference between dominating a round by using great boxing skills and what sergio mora does.

He's content with being "the contender" and receiving his reality show hand-outs. He doesn't want to actually challenge for a belt.

I'm actually really looking forward to this tomorrow. I like Gomez and for reasons I really can't explain I can't stand Mora, though I think he's got skill. Maybe just his attitude that comes across I hope Gomez flattens Tacki personally.

Who said I wanted him to be down to earth? I know plenty of people with money that aren't assholes. I just think that a loss would bring him "down to earth" in terms of his attitude inside the ring...he can be a total douche bag outside of the ring once he get's his ass handed to him...if it changes him inside the ring & brings him closer to focus...I'll be just fine with that.

How do you want him to act? He's got self belief and believes he's a legitimate fighter, he's confident that's all. What do you mean by 'know his place'? Do you expect him to say 'Ah I'm just a reality tv fighter with no punch, I'll go anywhere really?'

As for him turning down the Taylor fight it was a brave decision and shows he has a smart brain to match his ambition. Mora is a slick boxer but certainly not a puncher and obviously if he's going to have a chance at beating someone like Jermain it would have to be by outboxing him and winning a decision, he'd have no chance of scoring a KO.

When the Taylor decided at the last minute to switch the venue of the fight to Arkansaw, Taylor's hometown Mora pulled out because he knew he wouldn't get a fair decision if the fight went the distance.

He actually pulled out of the fight because he has ambitions of not only getting a title shot (a la Manfredo) but of actually WINNING it. Call him deluded or arrogant if you will but his actions spoke of bravery, of a man with a sense of self belief.

He felt this fight wouldn't be scored fairly, so he willingly gave up his big payday and title shot in the belief that his skills and subsequent performances in the ring would be impressive enough that he would get another chance and one in which he'd have more leverage and not be treated with the disrespect the Taylor camp showed him.

If he had no belief he was a genuine world class fighter he would have grabbed the shot as he'd know he'd not get another chance. He'd have agreed to whatever the promoters told him as he'd just be happy for a payday, but instead he stood up for himself.

He actually gained more respect from me after he pulled out, all depends how you look at it imo.

What attitude? Post a vid or a quote from him showing us all what an arrogant asshole he is?

He's no different from any fighter, actually much nicer than most. He gave Manfredo massive props when he fought Scott Pemberton at which he was ringside saying that Manfredo fought like King Kong that night. Contrast that with Peter Mafrendo who guest commentated on ESPN when Mora fought Regan and Manfredo just kept putting Sergio down.

But like I say, if you think he's arrogant or needs humbling post a vid of him at his arrogant worst
