40gb Ps3 doesnt play ps2 games?

So i bought a ps3 and got fight round 3 (awesome on ps3!). Anyway i knew before hand that the ps3 with the 40gb wouldnt play older games but somebody told me you can update the software and it will work. Anyone know where to get this update coz i have updated it but it still dont play the ps2 games.

It can't play them as far as I know. Bag of shite really. you can't play your old games and at the moment there's fuck all good games on the PS3... those that are good are on the 360 anyway...

Yeah but the only good games on the 360 are carry overs from xbox. Its not like they are totally new, the idea was already created. But im happy with the ps3, i got a ps2 if i wanna play them games anyway. Graphics are amazing and its just awesome. Ps3 will get good games, it just take a little time. Xbox 360 was released before the ps3.

Sega Saturn
Dreamcast
Play Station
Play Station II
Game Cube

But I rarely play them, the only time they are used is when my little brothers come over and go wild with them. The last time I played any of them was the PS2 and I was playing FIFA Street the second one when it 1st came out. But I think that was like 2 years ago.

I have Sega Genesis on the computer and Super Nintendo funny enough i play Sega and Nintendo now i don't even play PS3 i used to have some good times back in the day with Sega and Nintendo all the family used to come round and we would have great laugh good times

Gears of war, dead rising, Bioshock, lost planet? nowt to do with the original xbox...

the PS3 will get good games... but it doesn't have any good exclusives at the moment. by the time it does have good games it will be cheaper and the control pads will rumble.

I play a few games on this PC and I had Doom, Duke Nukem etc on my old PC my uncle gave me...

Come to think of it until I got the N64 all my consoles and PCs were hand outs of stuff my extended family got bored of...

Yeah true lol Well i had to buy a ps3 coz i got the oldest version of the ps2 and it wasnt playing dvds or games really well and fuck that i wasnt buyin a slim line ps2 just for the occasional game i hire out. All i usually play is fight night round 3, so it works out alright. Plus the new wrestling game is looking insane on ps3, you can light tables on fire and throw them through it

no you cant emulate ps2 games but you can emulate ps1 games so they should work on the ps3, the new ps3 40gb is cheaper because they have took out the chip that allows it to run ps2 games
