Byrd title contending days are over. I wouldn't be surprise to see him get knocked out. Not that I think highly of his opponent, It's just that I think he no longer has the reflexes he once had. Without that, he's pretty much a sitting duck.
i think sultan can beat him byrd dont have the sklls he has an he look very old
this summer there was rumors that he was going go to the cruiseweight divison
but ii guess it was only a rumor... He can do work in cruiserweight
I like Chris Byrd, not that he's a particularily entertaining fighter but he's a nice guy, but like VD said, his best days are behind him and as soon as his reflexes start to fade he's in some serious trouble. Wlad beat the hell out of him in their last fight.
I could see him having some success as a cruiser, but he's too small for a heavy and the only thing that has carried him in the division to this point are his reflexes and those are starting to fade.
Well I've seen Povetkin fight and IMO I haven't seen anything there that tells me hes a shoe in to beat Byrd.
Then again Byrds career as of late hasn't been on a good road for soem time now. I mean 1 fight in 2003, 2 fights in 2004 and one of 'em being a draw the other a SD, 1 fight in 2005, 1 fight in 2006 a TKO loos to Wladdy.
For me this fight is a coin toss is Povetkin still green? I mean 13 fights I don't care who hes fought so far.
I'm gonna go out on this one and say Byrd decisions Povetkin.
Thanks for writing exactly what I wanted to sayOriginally Posted by CFH

I'm never drinking again (I am a liar)
Marianacci(sp) touched him up a few times, and Byrd didnt look too active in that fight. He isnt going to get far waiting around all day to counter. He is really weak too as far as power is concerned. I dont know Povetkin but if he's as good as people say he should get the k.o. Byrd will have to have done a complete transformation from his last outing if he wants to be a contender. Yeah he's a nice guy and all, he may be too nice. It seems he doesnt want to hurt anyone with his punches.
You mean Enzo & Byrd have sparred?Originally Posted by No Contest

The only thing I see for Byrd is retirement, or maybe a training job. If he sees Vlad again, "I see dead people (well, just one)."
Chris Byrd's carrer is over. He won't be able to get back to the top
When (yup, when) he loses to Povetkin, he should seriously contemplate a move down to Cruiser. He'd still be an interesting name there. I mean, if Calloway can get title fights and Herbie Hide is a serious contender...Originally Posted by Mar
Another option is to rematch some of the people he has already beat. Another shot for Tua? "Tune up" for a returning Vitali?
He should head of into retirment with john ruiz and evander holyfield and never box again.Originally Posted by Mar
Jeeez sorry Marianacci and Macarinelli are pretty damn similar.....you know what I meant. I did correct my spelling as much as I could, thanks for trying to make me look the fool tho.![]()
