Default Hats off to ENZO calzaghe...

there have been alot of posts about joe and mikkel, and rightly so. but i felt someone should mention lil Enzo C, 35 close to 36 it is very rare you see a fighter still fighting at the top of his game, still working every second of 12 hard fucking rounds.

Sure It was joe with the great skill hard work and never give up mentality - but to be able to fight like that, at that pace for 12 rounds.. that was because of the way enzo trains them. they train to the max right up to the wednesday/thursday before the fight. he works their asses off to the supreme! so hats off enzo, to make a 35 year old look as in shape as a 25 year old is a massive feat, that and his ring knowlage and the way he trains his boys.

Makes you wonder if its really good for guys to be constantly changing trainers, going from one "celebrity" trainer to another. Look at Joe Calzaghe with Enzo, Pavlik with Jack Loew.

thought it was funny when they said he had to buy boxing instructional books when he started training Joe. Obviously he's done well.

Joe and Enzo seem really close, more like best friends rather than father and son.

Its incredible to think Enzo learned by watching trainers and reading manuals.

I think that Enzo has given Joe the confidence of a champion since he was a kid and that is a big part of it. Believing you are the best is part of being the best are no exception. Its funny because many great champion do things that are frowned on by most trainers and go against the common fundementals of boxing but end up being right for that particular fighter. Boxing is still evolving and there has yet to be a perfect trainer or boxer though Ali, Pep, and Robinson were damn close. But almost all great champions had good chemistry with the trainer that developed their style.

It's good to see him getting recognition. He might be Ring Trainer of the Year two years in a row now. Good job Joe didn't split with him a few years ago too.

Incredible story,he read how to train through books or something?! Amazing. It seems fighters that stay loyal to their trainers are the ones that do best.

Yeah, Enzo must be an amazing man. I cannot think of another independent trainer with a better roster of champions at present.
