Kessler and Calzaghe both walked into the fight with unbeaten records. l wonder if this will have a positive or negative impact on kesslers career and how it will effect his future.

What Doesn't Kill You Will Only Make You STRONGER......
I think he could have learned a lot bu fighting Joe. Kessler was not hurt badly and he was competitive, so he shouldnt be demoralised.Originally Posted by LIONHEART
I think it will. Kess seems like a smart fighter, and I'd imagine they will watch lots of tape and work on the things Kess didn't do well against Calzaghe. If he gets down about it and doesn't learn from his mistakes, he could be in for some real tough fights: Miranda, Taylor when he moves up, maybe Pavlik. They'll be tough fights anyways, but could be costly if he gets jaded about his 1 loss and loses focus. Time will tell.
Yes. He'll have learnt a lot from it and he's already good enough to rule 12 stones for as long as he wants to. He's going to be in some outstanding fights over the next couple of years.
Well I don't think it will have a positive effect. A loss is never a good thing.
But Kessler should be able to bounce back. He didn't take a bad beating, he wasn't badly hurt, and he showed a ton of heart and skills.
If Calzaghe were to move up to 175 to fight Hopkins, I have no doubt that Kessler could become the new 168 pound king is Joe's absence.
One thing's for sure, he's going to remember that he has to learn how to cut the Ring off a bite more with a mover like Joe but I think Mr. Kessler will surprise everyone and come back new and improved.
Regardless of the judging i would say Kessler lost this fight by the slimmest of margins against a great like calzaghe. He landed the harder shots throughout and if he could have handled the pace, he would have beat calzaghe. It was very close in my opinion.
Kessler is currently in his prime. He's a very good fighter. But I think he's as good as he's going to get.
In his interview after the fight, you could tell he rued a missed oppertunity because he didn't perform at his absolute best (this is because Joe didn't let him). Kessler will have learned a lesson. He'll fight Mundine next and become a world champion again.Originally Posted by LIONHEART
The only thing he needs is more of a killer instinct. Or maybe not to be so calculated when he has his man hurt.

Agreed, I feel it may change his mentality and perhaps his approach, but technically and physically he's the finished proiduct.Originally Posted by Violent Demise
However, the finished product is a good one and he will be a champion again.
