Default Hopkins advised to snub Calzaghe

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7102324.stm

Oh dear, is Hopkins gonna duck Joe again? If thats the case I reckon Calzaghe might wanna get a fight arranged with Roy Jones before Hopkins can. Hopkins wont see so much value in a Jones rematch then once hes been beaten by Calzaghe.

I don't have much interest in a Calzaghe-Hopkins fight, but if it must happen...then so be it.

Oh, and Hopkins asking for a 60-40 split is absolute bullshit. He asked for that for a rematch with Jones, which rightfully...Jones rejected. Hopkins needs some ice to bring the swelling down on his big head.

Seriously,I respect B Hop for his accomplishments but this guy is not that big a draw, especially after his fight with Winky which even hardcore Bernard fans were not impressed by.In fact,it was horrible. Also,JC wants this fight. He has called B Hop out and offered to come to America to fight. If this fight does not get made,I dam sure as heck am not blaming Calzaghe. And if it does happen,I REALLY want Joe to whoop Bernard.

i think the 60/40 split is justified Hopkins is the more recognised fighter. Calzaghe only started getting credit after the Lacy fight. If im honest i am not completely sold on Calzaghe yet he hasn't fought enough world class opposition. It would be quite an interesting fight Hopkins craft against Calzaghe's hand speed. Hopkins is past his best tho and if Calzaghe wants to prove himself he should stay at super middle weight and try and get Pavlik to move up and fight him i think Pavlik would take him out due to his workrate and Joe's carelessness. If Kessler was more active he would have beat Calzaghe cant believe how much Joe's chin was tested in that fight.

Bernard is a pussy and a pri<k. I respect everything he has done in the ring, but outside it, he is an arogant arse that runs his mouth off about things he is not prepared to back up.

He said he would whoop Calzaghe, but won't fight him. He wants to figh Jones Jr (who I love) but seriously...where these guys are in their career, it would be a snooze fest.

Calzaghe is calling him out...he will go over there...he may even take the minority cut (if he has to) but B-Hop stop being a pussy and step up!

To be honest (assuming the fight is at light heavy where Hopkins is the recognised champion) the 60-40 split sounds fair. If it were to be made at super middle where Joe is the champ then he would deserve the lions share but if hes moing up and hes the challenger then why shouldnt Hopkins get the bigger cut. Any more than 60% and he's taking the piss but 60 sounds fair.

It's the ring belt though. Hopkins isn't as big a draw as he thinks he is. I like Roy Jones idea of 60-40 to the winner. If he's so fucking sure he can win, he'd take that. He already has home field advantage.

You can't really blame Hopkins for wanting to fight an ancient shot-to-shit Roy Jones over Joe Calzaghe.

4 years ago Hopkins knew Calzaghe was too much for him, so why face him now? Calzaghe hasn't slipped. He is beating guys in their 20s in their PRIME.

For once, I don't think it's about money. He's not going to make an astronomical amount to add to his $24m fortune plus his $2m a year working for Golden Boy.

Hopkins faces Calzaghe he sees another loss. Why risk that at this stage? Not happening.

although im not too interested in a calzaghe - hopkins bout, it is more interesting than calzaghe-jones or woods. and im sure that hopkins is not interested in a jones rematch, he said he already beat the guys that ko'd him so he ain't interested. if hopkins really wants calzaghe he would not be asking for 60-40 purse. come on bhop , step your game up and fight the best super middleweight of this era.

This fight is looking dead and buried already. I honestly thought and hoped it would be wrapped up immediately after the Kessler fight as it seemd to be an obvious conclusion to both fighters careers.

I see your point, but in this case I disagree. Both are recognized champs. Whover agrees to fight in the other's division - be it Hopkins moving down, or Calzaghe moving up - have already made significant accomodations. Therefore I'd actually consider more reasonable for Calzaghe to get 60-40 at LHW, and Hopkins to get 60-40 at SMW and vice versa.

But 60-40 for the winner - 50-50 in case of draw - still seem like the best solution.

Hopkins is always carrying on a bout his legacy and disrespecting other fighters. (i'm sorry but it is true, he is always playing down rival fighter's achievements.) But for me this is blatant hypocrisy. He states that he wants to be remembered among the greats such as Moore, Robinson and Ali, yet he seems to be ready to walk away from the one fight that would definitely put him up among these guys..

If he doesn't fight Calzaghe and takes a fight with RJJ or another blown up contender il turn my back on him.

If he decides to defend against Dawson i may give him props though.

I still want to see Calzaghe-Taylor. I'm convinced it would be awesome.

Ive said this before and ill say it again HOPKINS IS FUCKING SHIT. He boxed blown up welterweights and some of the weakest challengers the middleweight division has ever known then lost to the highly overated Taylor. Of course he should snub CALZAGHE because Joe is the real deal not some fucking washed up has been like Roy Jones. Go on hopkins box the shot Jones YOU FUCKING COWARD.
