I know very little about him, but he is a good speaker, dont really know his platform. Hilary seems to have more of a plan, and I am all for health care for everyone, shit if Canada can do it, damn it we can do it...definately tax the corporations and ultra wealthy but nobody dares fuck with them....and why oh why is there not a flat tax rate? Can someone explain that to me?

A flat tax is exactly what wealthy people and corporations want! IT is because it is by far the most 'regressive' type of tax. Taxes such as flat taxes, fees, sales tax, etc. are regressive because poor people pay much more of their % of income on them. Whereas an income type tax is made to a mroe incremental type of system.

Absolutely NOT! YOu would pay more and they would pay less. So I guess it evens out. I mean think about it. A "flat tax" is the same rate paid by all. There are a hell of a lot more poor to middle class people than wealthy. So by common sense they will pay less.

Ok, I think your thinking I'm talking about a flat rate, but what I meant to say was a standard percentage rate not a standard sum.

If there was a flat %, then i can see how healthcare could eventually become free like Canada.. In theory it sounds like a great idea but i really don't think i know how i'd feel about it til it actually happened.. I mean, how many people here HATE going to the ER because they know they'll have to wait at LEAST an hour and most times more..

Remember that everyone in that room is PAYING money to be there, so they obviously feel there is something wrong with them..

Now think if you didn't have to pay for that visit.. the number of people in the room would multiply by at least 3 i'm guessing, which would mean you'd have to wait 3 hours minimum in that same scenario..

Unfortunately it's a tough area to argue about, because you hear all of the stories of people not going to the ER cause it's too expensive, but they actually had something wrong with them, and because they didn't go it got worse and eventually they died from it.. So you have those occurences in the back of your mind when you're saying that you don't want free healthcare.. it's a tough situation.

Although if you want free healthcare, Canada isn't that far away if you live here in the states

speaking of obama...my friend and I was at a caffe just chatting a bit. She ask me, have you been following the presidential race recently? I answered, no not really. She goes, well have you heard of Barack Obama. I answered, yea heard and read about him a bit. I then ask why. My friend answers, well I have a bad feeling about that guy...he looks like an Iragy in disguise. I almost spit my drink out in laughter. I tell her no he doesnt, she frowns and says well if not Iraqy then somewhere from the middle-east.
