heard the pool was one of a kind and way ahead of its time!![]()
Was going thru the threads on here and came across this thread.
I was there late 2001 stayed in Santa Barbara took the full tour of the place we had to do it in 3 segments. Lower, Middle and Top.
I have some pictures if your interested. I never knew much about it but leading up to the trip I got really into the history of the castle/family and read up on it. I also visited Solvang, Carmel among other small intersting cities up there....
About the pool I'm assuming you mean the outdoor Olympus Pool that looks like a scene out of the Roman times.
Or maybe your talking about the indoor pool whos tiles ALL AROUND the pool room are covered in gold.
I would strongly recommend taking a trip there.![]()
Whoa! totally forgot i made this thread buddy thanks! yeah i drove by and looked up and saw just probably the craziest mansion ive ever seen way up on the cliffs of monetery. i was not able to go inside and up to the tour all i made it was the lobby gift shop. but even that was rather impressive.Originally Posted by CutMeMick

Can't remember the cost really.... But it wasn't expensive and it took 3 different tours to see the whole thing...
Remember patience is a virtue...
I live in Southern Cali, Los Angeles...
sounds cool cut! i asked a bunch of the employees in the lobby and they told me the full on tour takes about 3hrs and i missed the final bus of the day. i even asked them what happens if i just started walking up the hill to see the house for myself and she said id strongly advise you not to do that lol.
from the pics i did see of the house and propert etc. wow! this family had probably the nicest crib ever! taking into account this was back in the day and all as well! this family made their fortune from the publishing business i believe. makes me want to get into the same business LOL
