    Default HBO letdown

After getting very excited for the card put on last weekend from HBO. After listening to Max Kellerman saying all the prefight hype of calling your old friend's who are now MMA fans to watch the event. All and all it was a big letdown to me. Not only did I fall asleep for the main event I rewatched it the next morning and wouldn;t you know it I fell asleep again. So I must ask is there something wrong with me was this fight good. What do you guy's think about the fight's.

First fight wasn't great but it was a nice scrap, albeit with a retarded referee in the middle there fucking up the fight somewhat, and a nasty ending. Main event the first 6 rounds were really borring since kats didn't do jack shit in those rounds, the later rounds were rather exciting especially when both opened up at times. I'd say both fights were like b- or c+.

Right yeah? That avatar makes me forget what his posts are even about

I thought the fights were good; though like others said maybe not what was expected, but entertaining nonetheless.

Well my wife hates boxing so I watched the rebroadcasts after she fell asleep at like 2:30 in the morning. I was drifting in and out of consciousness but because I was already sleeping and trying to wake up. Juarez/Barrios was good in my opinion. Especially when you factor in a late round kayo when Juarez was the one who was losing the fight. I love Diaz. The kid had an off night against Nate Campbell but got back to what he does best against a very 1-dimensional Katsidis.

I thought the first fight was good and then when second came on I was just uninterested. I think I don't like Juan Diaz could be it also. He has to hit you like a thousand times before the other guy feels the effect's. I don't know maybe this weekend will be better.

Falling alseep I can understand. I've fallen alseep during action fights if I was fighting sleep going in.

I thought both fights were rather good.

In the first fight you had Barrios shocking the boxing world by out hustling Juarez, only to have Juarez turn up the heat and give Barrios a "Pan's Labyrinth" smile.

In the second bout Diaz fought smart against Katsidis, circling to and fro instead of backing straight up. From round 8 on I thought Katsidis started wearing Diaz down and IMO would have gotten the win in a 15 round fight.

I had Katsidis winning rounds 8,9,10,11,12.
(NOTE: He was my pick to win it)

I have to disagree about Kats, I think if it had been a 15 rounder he would've been stopped. That eye was getting ugly.

    I think it's just you.

I felt both fights were entertaining. Maybe you were really tired?

The first fight wasn't that good. I just don't like Rocky Juarez and watching him to do nothing. Especially when he has shown flashes of being a good, exciting fighter. I swear, when he offers his services to HBO or Showtime, he doesn't show them whole fights just highlight videos. And the referee in that one changed the whole dynamic of the fight, Barrios abandoned the left hook to the body at his corners advice and the fight fell into a fairly boring pattern until the 10th and 11th. So I can see not liking that fight, I just can't get excited for a Rocky Juarez victory and I used to be a fan of him.

The Diaz fight was excellent, Diaz put on a clinic and just took Kats to school but Katsidis stayed on his chest the whole fight and made it exciting. Although I did feel his will was a bit broken in the middle rounds and only when Diaz took the foot off the gas a bit did it get somewhat competitive, that was just in the late rounds. But it was an entertaining fight just because when you have an awesome performance and lots of punches it's always exciting. I don't see how you can call it a letdown. Maybe if Katsidis didn't fight such a dumb fight and Diaz wasn't that good then it would have been more to your standards but surely everyone can enjoy that fight even without the drama of knowing Katsidis wasn't going to win 6 rounds through.

Kellerman is growing on me as a commentator as opposed to a studio guy, he stole the words from my mouth when the 6th round came around and he compared it to Cotto-Margarito saying you knew in the 6th of Cotto-Margarito that Margarito had something for Cotto and the tide was turning where you knew Katsidis was never coming back in that one. I thought that was perfectly put.

Sounds like you have boxing burnout. Diaz-Kats was one sided on the scores but close, being that they werent blow out rounds and Kats wasn't fading. Diaz put on a clinic on how to move and jab, he had Kats spinning around like a top. That was fun to watch.

I might have it right now, but I'm not sure. Last year when NFL season rolled around I was bitter that Friday Night Fights ended and didn't get into football the right way all season. This year I was happy the NFL season was upon us and wasn't worried about Friday Night Fights ending.

I think that Rocky did a good job at the closing that fight. I think Barrios getting points taking away was the right thing he was low blowing way to much and i saw alot of low blows during the fight he was hitting low. I think Rocky could of ended it earlier if he let his hands go i do not know why he waits so much.

May not have lived up to the fight.....but it was a decent show, as much as we like we're not going to get margo/cotto every weekend. On so called "paper" i was just as excited for this fights as i was any other and i wasn't all that dissappointed but i get where fightfan was coming from, it's all where your expectations are i guess.
