Default Let's Clear Something Up About the Klitschko Sultan Bout

First off OK we all know Wlads looked like SHIT last night...He did not do what EVERYONE expected but lets look at this in the proper light. And this is not being stated as a Klitschko fan because I can take him or leave him but a boxing fan in general...

Yes he was supposed to blow Sultan out, KO him, Show his dominance, His Right hand was supposed to hit Sultan so hard Panama Lewis would have to change his name to Nicaragua Lewis, Blah Blah Blah,

Sultan was a second rate HW champion who struggled with Austin a guy Wlad beat with one arm...Blah Blah Blah...

Guess what?....IT IS ALL HORSE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wlad and Manny went in with a plan last night, the plan did not work. There was no plan B this is obvious. Wlad was supposed to go in, be patient wait for Sultan to throw hit the glove make Sultan open big then BLAST HIS JAW!!!!!./...It did not happen...OHH well big deal.

Sultan was also underestimated, they thought he would fold under the might of Klitschko, He did not. He is an annoying sneaky little southpaw that is not really strong, not really big and not overly skilled but he has a way of making guys look bad and confusing guys in the ring why I don't know but seems to be the case.

Wlad fought safe and he won the fight, dull YES!!!! But was there any doubt? NO!!! He won a decision without contraversy.

Get over it people, Be it Wlad, Cotto, Hopkins, or even Mayweather...They can not perform up to everyones standards everytime. The man did not go all out and take chances. Sucks to watch but again he got the WIN

Next outing Wlad will destroy who ever he fights and everyone will sing his praises again as a mighty KO punching machine that will be on top for as long as his jaw holds out...Deny it all you want but that will be the consensus...Not just by fans but writers and promoters alike.

Problem is everyone expects these guys to go all out and give the show stopper everytime. Its impossible, just can't happen. There was no fear, no signs of being vunerable or any of the other things being said. Just an off night where the plan pretty much went south then they just kept doing enough to go home with another belt.

I understand the disapointment of a dull fight but people are going overboard on analogies...and criticizim....

    Lets put it this way....

Each and everytime we make love to our wives or girlfriends it is not better then the last time. Yet they don't start talking about their ex's and how pitiful things have become since they were having sex with them? Or how you are not the performer they were do they?......

And if they do you have bigger problems then any shit can performance Wlad or anyone else puts on in the ring

Very good post, I do believe that puts it in proper perspective.

Of course as a Klitschko fan, I love it when he KO's another fighter but I'll take that win over Sultan for now...there is no way he can fix it now.

Wladimir will look to impress in the next fight and here is hoping he does

nice post Daxx i was well on Wlads case last night partly dissapointed and mainly drunk but the main reason for me is that he can do better.

The heavy's have been a forgotten part of boxing and last night was a great showcase for them and it failed IMO... but this will not stop me being a stallion in bed

In the future if Wladimir seeks to model the career of Lennox Lewis he had better take on a dangerous fighter and just whip the shit out of them...it can't be Sam Peter because Sam has already been dealt with by Wlad.

Alexander Povetkin right now seems to me to be the Andrew Golota of this era. He's a good solid fighter but he is well lacking in certain areas all of which Wladimir can expose. Wladimir needs a KO in the first 5 rounds of the fight and it needs to be on regular HBO and it needs to be either in Las Vegas or the Garden.

Wladimir needs what a Shannon Briggs or Evander Holyfield or Michael Grant were to Lennox Lewis' career and he needs to have exciting KO wins.

But you just can't plan how to fight a southpaw until you get in the ring with them...any little thing they do different than your sparring partners can really screw you up.

I honestly think they figured Sultan would run away from Wladimir and Wlad could chase him down and blast him out....Sultan fighting back didn't seem to fit well with the gameplan at all.

No matter how you slice it, Klitschko’s fight last night vs Ibragimov was downright DULL, Wlad’s patty-cake tactics were amateurish, and I think I would have gotten a bigger kick out of Hillary and Obama slapping the sh*t out of each other on national TV.

I understand Wlad’s fans will be quick to jump to his defense. Wlad did what he had to do… Ibragimov was not to be underestimated… blah, blah, blah.

But the truth is, when you compare this fight with all the great fights we’ve had the past year or so, it falls wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-ay short. And the sad part about it is, it happens to be the division that most needs the good fights. Everyone knows the heavies are the most popular division in boxing among the casual fans. And if this is the kind of spectacle they’re going to get… well, let’s just say they won’t be burning up the phone lines to buy PPV boxing events any time soon, if you know what I mean.

So call me a Wlad hater if you want (I’m not), but facts are facts. And the fact is, my thoughts about the fight can be summed up as follows:

I have no problem with descisions or going a full 12 rounds.I dont need Ko's to keep me entertained and I do appreciate a good chess match but last night was a stretch,More like Checkers. One fight does not a fighters career make ,and Sultan is pretty cagey regardless of his appearence .But you can never bank to much on playing catch up "The next time" around and looking stellar .Never take tomorrow for granted.....seize the moment! If I was that tentitive with my girl....She'd be left wanting Shes a freak what can I say.
    Good stuff Daxx

If he continues to fight like he's terrified to get hit and just grabs his opponent every time they start to throw at him in future fights can we all admit he's a joke with a good enough jab to beat the shower of rubbish that currently contests the heavyweight division, or are we just going to continue making excuses for him ?

It may not have been the outcome I thought would happen, and it wasn't a bite your fingernails while sitting on the edge of your seat fight, but Wlad won and now it's on to the next fight.

Like Khan said, nothing can be done to reverse the way the fight went, but not every fight can be exciting. Wlad seemed leery of that deceptively fast left hand of Sultan's, and though I like a risk-taker, I won't harp on the guy too much.

Also, give Sultan a little credit, as I saw him take a handful of good, solid shots that would have put some people down, and he takes a punch very well, even though he's so dorky looking

I will say this about Wlad, he does seem real leery of taking a shot, and in a way seems scared to engage if he feels any possibility of taking some shots. It is what it is.

Who wouldn't tie up a smaller opponent when they get on the inside Not doing that is just plain STUPID.

Wladimir is more than just a jab and what he did is nothing different than any other SMART heavyweight boxer has done in the past...Ali, Holmes, Lewis.

No that fight wasn't fun to watch but it's not going to be his last fight...it's only 1 of 6 fights he has had that has gone the distance.

Every fan wanted to see a knockout. Wlad wanted to see a win. Simple. We as fan like the fireworks, Wlad liked the victory.
Last night, being a unification fight, Wlad just wanted to do it in the safest way possible without any chance of 'mistake-crack-wlads-down'.

Now he has them, and can call himself the Unified champ, I believe his defence fights will be destructive.

Do I believe he and Vitali will become the 2-headed heavyweight champion like that reporter said? Hell yes.

Where was their an excuse being made? Can't say I can see one anywhere other then the fact the guy can't have everyfight be a highlite reel KO...Not an excuse a fact.....

Funny thing is when Lennox Lewis was Champion (AND I AM IN NO WAY COMPARING WLAD TO LEWIS HE HAS A LONG WAYY TO GO BEFORE EVEN BEING MENTIONED IN THE SAME SENTENCE ACCOMPLISHMENT WISE) No matter what Lennox did he was blasted for it....

Lewis could do no right...Not by tyhe press not by a large majority of boxing fans....

Funny thing is not he is considered one of the top 5 ATG heavyweights

History tends to treat fighters better than the present

Unless you're Mike Tyson who had an exciting style...but he got scares a couple times during his prime and even "Iron" Mike had some boring fights
