Default If Manfredo moved down to 160 his career would take off again

It just occured to me that Peter Manfredo would make the perfect step up opponent for Brian Vera, John Duddy and maybe Andy Lee after that.

Why the hell is he fighting at 168 where he has NO CHANCE and not instead contemplating a move down to 160 where there are a bunch of prospects that not only he could fight, but that he could realistically beat as well?

If he moved down and fought Vera a fight I reckon he would win, then went on to fight Duddy, again a winnable fight for him, he's back in contention for another world title shot.

I know most rain on him, but Pride likes him so he'd probably agree with me.

He would have a much brighter future at 160

You say Manfredo career could take off again. When did it take off the first time?

I agree with you Bilbo, I think he could still make 160 without any trouble & as you say there are winnable high profile type fights available. Throw in Lopez & Joval... possibly Griffin(I think he loses this) & he's right back in the mix!!!

Yea he'd probably have a lot better chance at winning some fights against decent opp at 160, but then again I don't know if he would beat Duddy or Lee, easy as they are to hit they are offensively better than him and Manfredo can't punch worth shit.. Could be good fan friendly fights though, so I wouldn't mind seeing him take on some of these guys. I do believe I read that he plans to drop down to 160 in some article recently?

I actually think Manfredo is better offensively than Duddy to be honest. He got Pemberton out in 3, Spina out in 3 and that guy he KO'd last week had never been stopped before.

When was the last time Duddy knocked out anyone even remotely decent?

Allesio Furlan went 10 rounds or so with him.

Yea maybe, won't argue with that.. Duddy is pretty crap all around imo, guess I just said he was better offensively because his defence is SO bad that he has to have something going. I didn't see his last fight which was apparently a terrible outing so I can't really say how crap he is at the moment.

160 without any trouble is an understatement..

manfredo is about as big as i am, and when i was at 168 i had a gut.. im down to about 156-157 and i could still lose another few pounds without trying too hard..

the MAXIMUM weight manfredo should be fighting at is 160, and that's why he looks like crap at the higher weights cause he doesn't carry his power.. He actually has decent power at 160 and lower..
