Default "No country for old men" what is THAT all aout????

Whatched the film and was expecting somthing a bit special after all the fuss that was made over it.

It was slow moving, hard to follow,a pot that was thiner than Homer Simpsons hair line.
To top it all off the ending was the worse I can ever remember from afilm.

I know I might not be the brightest out there so can sombody tell me what the fuck this film is all about.

Its a great movie, its about consequences, faiths, and chances.

The main character turn out to be the sheriff, not the man that originally found the money.

Man finds money, sees dead body and a dying one. Man feels guilty so he decides to come back to give some water to dying person. Man faces the chances of his choice for returning. Bad guys discovers that he has taken the man. The Bad guys searches for him, the main killer gets involves and hunts man with money down. The main killer stands for chances and faith. He'll flip a coin for your life, like he did to the old man in the gas station and the man's wife whom found the money. It was also just by chances he gets t-boned while driving from the wifes home after killing her. The man with money is hunted down by the bad guys, that guy gets killed. The main killer discovers the money in the apartment the man stayed in. Only by chance does the sheriff not notice at the time the main killer was in that same apartment when he was there after the man died.

Great movie, very different and worth rewatching to fully understand.

I just bought the movie at walmart. It has "best picture winner" sticker on it, that's why I had to buy it. I haven't watch it yet. It better be good like they say.

    ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!

    this movie was FANTASTIC..

    WORST ENDING?!?! WHAT?!

    I'm baffled.. sorry..

    okay..

First off, there were so many incredible elements in this movie that if i just talk about one then i feel bad, and i'm not saying enough for the movie.. "didn't understand the ending"? What is there to understand.. the name of the movie is "No Country for OLD Men".. You realize at the end of the movie that it is not about Javier Bardem's character, or Josh Brolin's.. but Tommy Lee's.. In his little monologues throughout the movie he talks about getting older, and how things have changed and what not.. and the actual film, is a perfect example of what he is trying to say.. he is ONE step behind his man throughout the movie.. That is the message of the movie.. It's how Tommy's character has lost a step and that people will keep on killing and cops will have to run them down, but that he is past his best as a cop and needed to retire..

but beyond that, the film was just great.. the acting was impeccable.. The tension created in the scene with Bardem and the store clerk was amazing.. same with the scene of the dog, and basically any scene with Bardem when he kills cause he is such a loose cannon... Those scenes in the hotel with the footsteps were great..

Are you sure you weren't on something watching this? Hard to follow?

cmon, the movie moved along SEAMLESSLY and it was non stop unexpectedness to keep you glued to it.. I watched it a second time and liked it even more than the first..

Let me ask you what type of stuff you normally watch Porky..

because if it's the mainstream shit that has high box office numbers every week then i can understand how you may not have liked it.. No Country For Old Men is a FILM.. It had old school directing and cinematography and the Coen brothers nailed it.. If you're used to watching the catchy teenage movies that come out week after week, then I wouldn't expect you to like this.. but if you are a fan of film, and don't need explosions in a movie to keep you interested, then i don't see how you couldn't love this movie..

    /end rant

Good posting my little droid friend. I greatly enjoyed the movie too and felt it was well worthy of all the Oscars it received.

I also liked how you defended the film by explaining how those who didn't like it were just too stupid and dim to understand.

yea the ending takes a bit of brain power

how the killer walks away from getting t-boned while he was driving is a demonstration of what are the chances for that. the movie throws scenarios at you that you may not understand, but theres a point to them. The killer is the sign for faith or chances.

The sheriff while he was talking at the end, was the very confusing part. But he speaks of retiring and when he finally did. He realize he never took much chances therfor feeling empty i guess. I'll really need to rewatch it, its been away. The sheriff never really interested me in the whole movie so i didn't really pay attention to him.

    ahah.. thanks bilbs..

i don't think porkypara is dumb, i'm just saying that sometimes if you go to the movies a lot and just like watching anything that comes out, you get caught up in those "mainstream" styles.. you know, the typical villain roles, and then the villain falls off of a cliff at the end or something, and everyone is happy.. If you get used to those endings and those style movies then you aren't going to be in the right mind set to watch an offbeat type of film like NCFOM..

i mean, you almost have an anti-hero with josh brolin's character, and then you have a villain that is completely psychotic but doesn't have the typical villain personality..

I liked the movie and didn't seem really hard to understand pretty linear, but some of the actions of some of the characters in the movie just made you go wtf. When the killer pulls over the guy in the cop car the guy sees the killer with that breathing apparatus dressed in civilian clothing and still doesn't drive off, I guess thats nitpicking tho...check out the proposition if you liked this.

lol Rambo is a great film and to be honest if I was watching No Country with a group of other fireman all the time keeping an earout for any emergency calls I doubt I'd have got into as much either.

By the way do fireman still slide down a pole into their fire engine like Batman nowadays or have our politically correct, health and safety conscious beaurocrats at Westminster now insisted you take the stairs?

Let me guess if you slide down a poll you need to be wearing a safety harness or some shit?

Llewellyn Moss is a flawed doppleganger for Antwan Sugar. Consider this, when Moss is fleeing the hotel and gets shot in the left leg by Sugar, he in turn shoots Sugar in the left leg. The money is a mcguffin--it isn't important. The two men's opposition to one another is. Moss spends the movie TRYING to disappear, Sugar becomes "visible" whenever he pleases. Both are capable at improvisation (Moss with his hiding the money in the vent trick and Sugar blowing up the car so he could raid the pharmacy). Lastly, the characters names had no similarity, but I wonder if the actors were cast because they have the same initials, Javier Bardem & Josh Brolin.

I really doubt that! If they wern't available would they have had to go with Leonardo De Caprio and Les Dennis?

Imagine Les Dennis as Sugar? Instead of making someone bet their life in a coin toss he'd ask them what 100 people he asked on the street said when asked to name their most essential item they packed in their suitcase when going on holiday.

Get it wrong and he'd go 'Our Survey says.........' and then shoot them in the head.

Would have made for a terrible film
