    Ok now I'm back in training again I need some practical advice on how to lose bodyfat.

    My past training I managed to get down from almost 12 stone to 10 stone 7.

    Although I've clearly lost weight however the amount of fat I can grab from my hips and stomach, and the amount of fat on my tits hasn't changed at all.

    My bodyweight doesn't seem to want to budge lower than this, I just stay at the same weight providing I keep working out.

    How can I lose the fat from these two areas? Is it even possible post 30 to do this? I can remember Ali famously showing off his flabby tum I think before his Foreman fight and saying in the past he could just run it off but now he could'nt shift it.

    Is it possible for me to lose this?

    My BMI is good for my weight and height at just under 23 but I stil have flab.

    How can I make it fuck off?

    i'm not a nutritionist or anything, but what types of workouts do you do? The thing that most people do wrong when trying to get rid of stomach flab is concentrate on their stomach and just do crunches and sit ups and stuff.. the best thing you can do is full body workouts cause you burn more calories that way..

    I don't think there is anything special to say, other than eat lots of small meals and do bits of cardio here and there as well as lifting.. if thats what you do..

    Again i'm not a trainer or nutritionist, but this is what i did to get into shape.. i never was fat or overweight but i had a bit of a gut and was somewhere around 175-178.. i dropped 14 lbs from january to mid feb just working my ass off and eating right.. i'm at around 158 right now, and i plan on losing 3-4 more lbs and shred whats left of the flab on my stomach.. i'll prob gain it back from gaining muscle but my goal is to stay at 160..

    I'm fairly well versed in nutrition and training and know what constitutes a healthy diet and good training but I seem unable to make progress beyond a certain point

    When in full training I row about 25 km a week, cycle maybe 30 km a week lift weights, either two whole body workouts a week or else I'll split it and do 4 smaller workouts working each body part twice a week.

    I cannot do crunches because I get terrible muscle spasms in my stomach area if I try. Instead of contractual exercises I do isotonic work mainly the plank exercise and bridging.

    I'm thinking I maybe need to add even more cardio, maybe a 10 km of walking a week as well and start counting calories.

    The thing is people already say I'm skinny, it's just I'm skinny fat, with love handles and slightly saggy tits.

    All I want is to look like a white Floyd Mayeather, it's not too much to ask

    I would almost go the other way.. Once you've got yourself a little fitter and in the full swing of exercising.. Try for a month or so to put on muscle, then lose the weight but trying to keep the muscle on..

    I've found my body always wants to stay at the same weight as well over the years... So if you can put a little more muscle on your body, when you settle back to that weight, it'll consist of more muscle and less fat...

    Your average diet seems to keep you at that weight with "flabby tits and muffin tops" , but if you add a little more muscle, it'll help burn the fat, use more of your calorie intake etc..

    Darn it's early and I can't explain things how I have them in my head...

    Hey Bilbo, I'll keep it simple.
    If your weight drops and bodyfat doesn't, your likely to be wearing down muscle.
    IOf you take some whey protein this will be sorted!

    Aerobic excercise is the best for shedding fat.
    Jogging, Cycling, rowing are all helpful.

    Weight training also helps get rid of a lot of fat. If you do light weihts with high repitions its one way to reduce fat without being overly demanding on the lungs and heart.

    Nutrition is the key though!
    Try drop full fat milk from your diet, use brown or whole grain bread and fruit rather than sugar.

    You can do it man, just leave yourself enough energy to climb that mountain!

    Cheers guys I am actually pretty much doing all that though.

    I have a whey protein shake an hour before any weights workouts and a scoopful in my porridge at breakfast the day after.

    I also use a drink called Rego Recovery which is a protein and carb mix after a long session of an hour or so.

    I only drink skimmed milk, only ever eat wholegrains, brown rice, wild rice etc.

    I do have a couple of vices, cheese and an occaisional addiction to crisps.

    I think it's like you say Dizaster, my body can't build muscles and lose fat at the same time.

    When I first started training last August, I dropped 14 lbs in 6 weeks of daily rowing, but then my weight remained constant for the next several months despite a healthy diet, weight training, rowing and cycling.

    Then just before I got ill I started doing more weights and gained 3 lbs.

    I think I'll have to start counting calories. I've got a special diet program on my PDA which can track exactly how much carbs, protein, fat, suger, salt etc I'm eating each day and I've got these cool kitchen scales that tell you the exact nutritional content of any food you weigh on it so no excuse really.

    I'm guessing to lose fat I'll need to consume about 2000 calories a day, with maybe an extra 300 calorie allowance on weight training days for extra protein so I don't lose too much muscle.

    To be honest right now I'd rather be lean than muscular, I just really want a six pack.

    Then I can try and build again.

    My bodyweight is probably exactly right I just need to change my composition maybe lose a stone (14 klbs) of fat and gain 14lbs of muscle.

    Ok,

    Well in that case you might need to up your intake of foof.
    Low fat and high protein.

    For gaining muscle mass do high weight low reps.
    Try some anaerobic exercise too. I no it'll be tough on you wity your lungs, but it may help. Experimintation will help.

    What I find is that putting on a bit of muscle bulk actually disguises fat.
    If you see the powerlifters in the gym, many have impressive physiques, they often have quite a high boidy fat %, but it's dispersed over a large area so it looks less.

    I reckon working your pecs (benchpress, Incline, fly, pressups, Pull ups) Could give you some bulk and will disperse that fat.
    It'll also decrease the fat as you work. Since you row a fair bit, that'll also be a big help.

    As for the gut, thats one of the toughest areas. Largely because the abs are the hardest to get toned.
    There's no shame in using an ab belt whilst you run in order to boost your fat burning.
    I haven't used them myself, but a mate has and said they gave prety good results.

    It's possible, post 30 to significantly change your body.

    A few years back (I was 29-30) my mother bought me some sessions with a personal trainer as a holiday/birthday gift. He put me on a program where I would do about 20 minutes of cardio to start a workout, followed by 3 set of 12 moderate weight, 1 minute rest. It would get my heartrate up high, increase my endurance, then keep it in good zone for fatburning while I was lifting. Lots of circuit training, but a variety of exercises and routines. This workout, other than boxing, got me more cut than anything else. I dropped from a soft 205 to fairly hard 178 in about 6 months. My body fat % went from 23 to 13. I still had a little in the love-handle area and I didn't have 6-pack, but I was in damn good shape. I was doing dips with added weight and multiple sets of chinups.

    I've done other weight programs that bulked me up more and made me much stronger, but the high rep-short rest was the best program I ever used for "redistribution."

    Oh, and diet. I really, really watched my diet and cut out beer. Bread and sugar especially.

    Just out of interest has anyone here managed to get rid of their belly and and wobbly bits?

    I don't mean lose weight I can do that, and it's mostly fat, but when I sit down I can still grab a handful of fat from my tum and my can grab a healthy inch of fat off my man boobs.

    I notice even Jaidon Cordrington and Antonio Tarver have saggy man boob syndrome so if they can't shift it I'm guessing there's not much hope for me

    Summer is almost here and its been a long time since i looked like i wanted and i miss abbs gunna start it my self when i get back from Vegas. Kicked the Drugs and smoking and am ready to start full training my self. this is a great short cut to get fast track into it.

    Good luck mate, I must admit I do eat a lot of carbs, healthy ones though.

    But I always have toast for breakfast either on its own with peanut butter or marmite, or with egg on toast etc.

    I quite often have it with soups as well and eat rice or potatoes most nights.

    I very rarely eat any salads, really should work them into my diet.

    Those are the reasons why u are finding it hard to take the weight off in those spots then:/

    Thanks for the support tho

    feel more confident now about hitting the vega diet for a while, know i wont do it for more than two months, loves steaks, port chops, ribbs and all kinds of meat way to much lol - but being able to pack in smoking after 10 years and pass up the offer of coke after fallen into that hell hole i feel cutting out meat for a while will be a walk in the park.
