    Default Gerry Penalosa=AWESOME fighter

The first time I heard of him was when he was fighting Ponce. I won't lie,I thought DPL would KTFO him out! I was HUGELY impressed by Gerry's performance and since, have acquired about 5 or so of his fights. What a pro. Tough as nails. BEAUTIFUL counter punching. Pinpoint accurate. Lovely bodyshots. And the combos he was throwing v Sorvorapin were AWESOME! How could what this guy have been had he not retired for 4 years? Tremendous fighter. I jsut wanted to get that off my chest.

I'm just amazed there is actually a fighter under 9 stone that you hadn't heard of before

I got him in my stable in Galaxy's Fantasy League...

Gerry "FEARLESS" Penalosa got the WBC Super Fly belt in 1997 and got another one, the WBO Bantam belt from Jhonny Gonz in 2007, after 10 years.

Gerry never been KO'd or stopped in his 61 career fights. He lost 6 fights and 4 of those via SD mostly to taller and runner boxers.

Gerry been calling out Rafa for years but was never entertained by Team Rafa. He now set his sights for a rematch with DeLeon or a fight with Izzy Vazquez.

Haha! Did you see that fight? He's amazing.

I was really surprised with his stamina and hand speed. The guy is almost 20 years in the business and never tasted the canvas. All of his losses were from razor thin decisions in and controversials.

Gerry "FEARLESS" Penalosa's last 3 KO wins...

    April 6, 2008
Thai challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin begging Gerry to stop punching... TKO 8

    August 11, 2007
Jhonny Gonzales kneeling with both fist on the canvass wondering what hit him... KO 7

    October 21, 2006
Mauricio Martinez literally kissing the canvass... TKO 9

I thought he beat Ponce. For what its worth I don't like Ponce so maybe I was being biased. Ponce outworked him but the clean shots were all Penalosa.

You know if you think about it how good could Jhonny Gonzalez be if he just could finish out fights? Look at the Vazquez fight, he controlled Vazquez more than Marquez ever did for the first six or seven. Look at the Penalosa fight, he was controlling Gerry too. But he just can't hold up, he's just not one of those naturally tough guys.

I have given a lot of thoughts on that as well. IMO he was beating both isreal and gerry, if only he stayed consistent and finish fights he would be king of the division. the weight is giving him problems though, and im not too sure if moving up will benefit him.

He reminded me of a little old all-knowing kung fu master in the Ponce fight.

With all Ponce's 10 million bombs a round he was throwing Gerry never looked like he was bothered by any of it, and his stuff always looked so much more classy.. he was never gonna get the decision though with the amount Ponce threw

Gerry has been asking for a rematch with de Leon but the Golden Boy is reportedly not too keen about it. The rumor is that they don't want to put their future 'superstar' at risk against Gerry. Hope it's not true, we'll see.

Hope this is not true... GBP should not protect its boxers they perceived as future superstars... They should continually test their boxers to prove if they really made of the real stuff...

DeLeon is somewhat an exciting boxer but very crude and primitive... Master boxer like Gerry could make DeLeon looked amateurish...

Sorry Pacfan, you're waaaaaay off with teh GBP protecting DPL. If anything,if you ask Rudy Hernandez,Ponce's manager, they are trying to get him to lose the belt. Relations between GBP and Daniel are poor,at best. They offer him cr money for fights and try to corner him etc. Ponce himself has said he'll fight Gerry but only if the $$$ is right and he's dead on with that, why go to PI and losr to Gerrry because Ponce dam sure as heck can't KO him!

Yeah,I saw the Sorvorapin fight,it was classic Penelosa. Beautiful from start to finish. He let his hands go alot more than usual, had he done that v Ponce,he would have taken the W.

All right, I'll take your word for it, brod Gamo. Actually I'm not sure about Gerry beating Ponce. He's younger, stronger and bigger. But that's what makes the fight thrilling. Ponce did look very bad in the last fight though coz he wasn't able to KO a guy who looked scared most of the time.

Trust me bro,I like Ponce and I like Gerry but if they rematch,Gerry will win. Too determined,he'll be more active and we know he's one of the few who can take Ponce power. If you're able to take Ponce power, you've almost beaten him already(problem is few can) I like Daniel, but I'll be rooting for Gerry,I love that guy!

gerry isn't really as old as he is cause he did take a long time off from boxing. He has refresh himself and it has benefitted him plus he has never really been a brawler so he has preserved himself well throughout his career.
