    Default Stop The Boxing Bias

I'm noticing more and more how bias some of you guys are. I'm Puertorican but I have many favorites fighters who I like to watch from all over the world.

You guys act like the only guys who can get credit have to be americans and that's bull. You have to give credit where it's due no matter where the fighter is from.

It's incredible hearing what some of you guys say and how some guys even after they finally come to the states and do what you said they never could, you still try to downplay them.

Here's a list of some of my personal favorites:

Miguel Cotto - Skill, Heart and now Great All Around Boxing Skills

Joe Calzaghe - Great Boxing Skill, Is not afraid to Mix It Up, Speed and Is the ultimate at making adjustments mid fight

Abner Mares - It's still early but how you not love this guys skill speed and balance

Antonio Margarito - Slow but has Unbelievable Heart, Conditioning and Determination

Shane Mosley - On top of the fact he's a great fighter, he never took the easy route ad always chased the glory and not the money (True Legend)

Winky Wright - Here's a guy who never had an easy time finding an opponent and still can't get guys to fight him

Carlos Quintana - Watching that guy fight is one of the most artistic things you will ever see in the ring with his movement and great reflexes and pure and natural boxing talent and instincts

Marquez Bros - Great balance and boxing skill coupled with great determination

Manny Pac - Not the most skillful but his unrivaled determination, power and heart, not to mention willingness to fight anyone, makes him an undeniable great

Israel Vasquez - WOW! Awesome guy who can adjust very well and has the power to make his adjustments count

Kelly Pavlik - Slow guy that doesn't look like much but has the heart of a lion but somehow outpressures the pressure fighters, outboxes the better boxers with his style that up this point, has not been denied

I guess I can go on for a bit more but I just wanted to make a point.

Everyone has some sort of bias. In the case with Joe, it was simply a very close fight.

I have seen Americans in here claiming Joe won, and I have seen guys from the UK in here claiming Hopkins won.

I am Canadian and thought Joe squeaked it out, but if they would have given it to Hopkins, it would not have alarmed me at all. The fight was that close to me.

I think most of Joe's fans know how close it was, and they are not mad if someone believes Hopkins won. I think they are more upset with Joe not getting his due credit they feel he deserves for beating Hopkins.

I think many on the other side think some of Joe's fans are over inflating the value of the win. They see it as a good win, but not a huge win. I see it the same way. The ATG and P4P#1 claims thrown after the win was just way over the top to me. It should be just taken for what it is, a good win.

This is a strange thread for a guy whose other recent thread was completely biased towards Calzaghe. U suggested Hopkins was outclassed and exposed just cos u like Joe.
    Hypocrite.

Look man, your posts hold no weight cause you only repeat what you hear from tv. I know how you post already. Outclassed is actually an understatement BTW.

I repeat what I hear on TV? WTF does that even mean? I hardly watch TV. Anyways if anybody looked like they weren't able to fight their fight, or that they lacked skill on Saturday it was Joe.

Of course I like Joe. He's a class act and a great fighter. Unlike hopkins who faked to try to make the fight close. Bias clown!

Make a point?? What point exactly did you make? That you personally claim to like a bunch of fighters, not all from the same country? WOW, that really makes you special doesn't it. I'll bet noone else on here has even ONE foreign fighter they like at all .....As far as bias goes, of course it's rampant, it is everywhere. Don't act as though it's something exclusive to boxing.. It just happens to be a very international sport these days
(Since I assume you were only reffering to a nationalistic bias..). Everyone like's their home team or home fighters to an extent, and many will always be incapable of being truly impartial.. Especially when you consider the fact that there is a pretty healthy split between American and European(mostly from the UK) members. I think considering that, there's bound to be the fanatically biased posters for either side of the pond, but those who are capable of rational thought gain more objectivity from it. I do think that there are a ton of objective fans on this board who are fully capable of appreciating different fighters, and giving them due respect even when they are against one of their personal favourites, etc. What's funny is that you aren't one of them, and consitently post biased garbage yourself, often among the most childish drivel you'll find on this board..

No Country bias on my part

If I was I would be in here bragging up Bute, Pascal and Molitor.

Well Molitor is OK to me I guess but I cannot stand watching his fights as the TSN commentators have to be the most biased commentators I have ever seen. His last fight I had to turn the sound off.

I cannot stomach Bute at all, he has to be the most protected "champion" in the sport.

I think almost everyone on here lists a myriad of fighters... I like almost everyone except Kelly Pavlik(overrated), and Antonio Margarito who is really overrated, but also cocky.
