Does the title change hands after a disqualification?
Yes
What about failing a drug test after a draw?
"If there's a better chin in the world than Pryor's, it has to be on Mount Rushmore." -Pat Putnam.
Thought so but I was watching the Gatti-Rodriguez fight and the commentator said otherwise. I tried to think of a famous disqualification in a title fight but could only come up with Bowe-Golata where the challenger was disqualified.
If the guy that tested positive was the champ COMING INTO the fight then In this case it would be up to the org. which I'm sure they'd strip the title holder then have the challenger of that 'draw' fight vs. the #1 contender.
If the guy that tested positive COMING INTO the fight was the challenger and won but failed the drug test then see Ruiz-Toney for the answer.![]()

Another one that comes to mind and was really ridiculous is Luis Santana winning Terry Norris“junior middleweight belt on a DQ. Santana was a clubfighter and Norris was about a 100 times better than him, but had a horrible temper. They did a rematch and Norris was disqualified AGAIN. Finally knocked him out in a third try.
Max Schmelling won the heavyweight title by disqualfication from Sharkey I believe.
