Post Cortez to ref Klitchko fight...unbelivable!!

    "Cortez Klitschko-Thompson ref!
    By Karl Freitag
Under fire by U.S. media for his handling of the Humberto Soto-Francisco Lorenzo clash two weeks ago in Las Vegas, referee Joe Cortez will be back in the limelight on Saturday. The "Fair but Firm" Cortez will be the third man in the ring for the HBO-televised IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight championship fight between world champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBO mandatory challenger Tony Thompson in Hamburg, Germany. Judges will include Michael Pernick (USA), John Stewart (USA) and Manfred Küchler (Germany)."

This is what this pathetic old man gets after royaly screwing up!

Oi vey, here we go again.

Joe Cortez must have the best management in all of boxing.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

They may think nothing can go wrong based on Klitchkos last fight cause there wont be much action

Wont it be funny if Cortez went to brake them up and he got ko'ed that would be the iceing on the cake for him.

Haha yeah that would be a real shame now wouldn't it.

Can't believe he's got his fight. Every fight he refs these days he seems to totally balls up.

Anyone know how to get in the refing business, cause apparently you can screw up all you want and still get lucrative assignments!

They'd better take this CORTEZ guy off of any future fights of PACQUIAO, COTTO and PAVLIK. I'm already worried

Hey the ref doesn't throw any punches...Wlad just has to go in there and do his job and he's got nothing to worry about

You've got a point Lyle, but shit happens and there are situations that a good JUDGEMENT will be the deciding factor. Sorry to say but Joe Cortez has shady judgement.

Well Wlad shouldn't have that trouble with the likes of Tony Thompson...just like in all his other fights, win or lose, Wlad is responsible for the outcome

I think you're underestimating Thompson a bit Lyle. He doesn't have one weapon that really makes you go wow, but he is about as solid of a guy as there is in the heavyweight division. Can fight inside too which could make the ref a big factor. I know Wlad is the best in the division but the likes of Tony Thompson, he's a guy who's been around forever, has a great trainer in Barry Hunter, he's going to be game that's for sure and I really doubt he's scared of Wlad like every other opponent of his bar Peter has been the past few years.

...no doubt Tony is a hell of a fighter but he is somewhat unknown at this high of a level, Luan Krasniqi has 14 KOs, Guinn has 19 KO's, Timor Ibragimov has 13 KO's ......Wladimir has 44 KO's!!!

Tony has great heart and has good stamina and so far he has a great chin but then again who was going to really catch him like Wlad will

Tony still makes mistakes but he hasn't had to pay for them....Wlad will make him pay

Well he has fucked up jis last 3 big fights i doubt he will do anything in this fight it will probably take a fighter bring shot to stop the fight.

This joker has another big fight? thats like me going to work messing up then getting a pay rise!

However the fight is in Germany and seen as Cortez was in Mayweathers pocket team Klitchko proably told him anything goes in Germany outside LV its the corruption capital of boxing!

I hope the State take a tougher stance on this clown and refuse to use him otherwise it would be yet another blow for the credability of American boxing.

If he does make him pay, he'll have to do it with the right hand, which at the very least is a victory for the fans.

Don't sleep on the left hook, Wlad's is the best in the division but he rarely uses it for a KO punch.....but when he does it's goodnight sweetheart and vs a Southpaw I would guess he would be more apt to use it
