    Default Your net connection

I was just reading somewhere that Australia is one of the worst "developed" countries for internet speed and affordability..

Here is what my connection is, and this was one of the best deals around for what I wanted...

    Monthly cost : $100 (about $94 US)
Download limit : 25 gb at high speed, then unlimited after that at slow speed (no additional cost)
Speed : High speed about 700kbps - Slow speed litereally 4kbps.

There is LITERALY not ONE single service provider that offers true "unlimited high speed". They all offer high speed up to a certain gig range (80gig was the most I found anywhere), then it will slow down to snail pace which is basically the same as not even being able to use the fucken thing it is that slow)

The only deal up from mine, was :

    Monthly cost : $150
Download limited : 60gb at high speed. This one stays at high speed, but you pay like $0.30c per megabyte after the 60gb... Left unchecked, you could literally run up hundreds of dollars in less than an hour after you get to the 60gb...

    The plans here are shit..

Either it says unlimited, but slows down to almost a pause after a certain limited (between 20 and 80 gig).
OR, it stays fast, but you get charged a daylight robbery rate after you hit your gig limit...

NOT ONE provider offers true high speed unlimited connection.... FUCKING BULLSHIT!!

I can easily go through 25gb in 6 or 7 days (assuming i'm also being a bit picky about what I download), and then the other 23 days of the month my internet runs at the year 1983 pace....

I f'n hate Australia..... In the great United States, companies compete which LOWERS prices, and INCREASES the quality of service.... Here, our companies compete to RAISE prices, and offer SHIT quality service..

Store A :"Oh, they're charging $30 for that now? We can put ours up to $35 then"
Store B:" Oh, look they've put there's up to $35 which is 5 more than us.. Guess we can put ours up to $40"

In other countries it's the opposite... Companies try to compete and undercut the competition to make more sales... In Australia our companies co-operate between each other to raise profits by all and make maximum profits...

    It's bullshit..

ANYWAY BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION IF I CAN REMEMBER IT...

What sort of internet deal do you get

Yes Australia really lags behind the rest of the world in this regard. I pay $100/month 20Gb limit speed is ok for australian standards - just did a check and am getting 6525kb/s which is ok for this time of the evening. The network speeds here is now such a political issue it will be very difficult to get anything done to bring us up to the standards of other countries.

In the UK i am on a 8mb plan for £12.50 a month which could be £5 cheaper if took out a mobile with the same company.

I only get 5.5mb though at best due to distance and 1mb upload. My download limit is unlimited and I've not been warned yet and it gets hammered

Honestly I love the speed of my connection... Most streams that i've tried, the speed is sufficient to complete that.. Downloads are perfectly reasonable... It takes between 4 to 8 minutes for 100mb... If that was as fast as it could ever get, I would be perfectly happy with that..

It's the fact that no companies offer unlimited downloads at anything even CLOSE to that speed which really gets to me... All the companies know that no one else offers unlimited, so they all just play around with specifics, and really none of them offer anything outstanding in regards to deals..

Like, even if you find and buy the absolute best deal in the ENTIRE COUNTRY, ,you STILL have to be very careful of what you download, how often you download, and always be aware of where you are in regards to your download limit.. Even paying upwards of $150 per month...

We have got to a very decent speed... But the value for money just isn't there yet, and that is something that can EASILY be changed.... The government issue that bikersk is talking about is the fact our government has it in their control to upgrade the speed of our internet.... Which would be a great addition and something our country should be offered.... But the companies that have control over our internet have a nice little Monopoly going, and they aren't giving us a fair deal....... We want value for money... Not fucking paying out the ass for the bare minimum they think we'll take for that money..

p.s.. i'm drunk and officially love Jack Daniels.. which is going to lead me to my next thread... stay tuned..
