Default The Truth About Vitali Vs. Peter

Last night a big heavyweight beat up a smaller heavyweight. Both men showed many flaws. Vitali held his hands low and pulled straight back, moving robotically. Peter looked like an amateur with no answer to anything and failed to get underneath Vitalis telegraphed punches.
Vitali is sucessful because hes a big, strong heavyweight who does know how to keep his opponents at bay, he does deserve credit for that. But put him in with a guy like Valuev or his brother Wlad, he will look very ordinary. As far as Peter goes, he just lacks skill and basic fundements. Physically, he is tough, but he is mentally weak mostly because he doesnt have enough tools in his aresenal and he becomes frusterated.
Last nights fight was really no different than any other heavyweight title fight in the last 10 years or so. We didnt learn anything we didnt already know, and the division is still searching for the next superstar.

All of those flaws didnt show up over night. Theyve always had them but in Vitalis case, they work for him very well and i would not call them a flaw. Not technically correct but either is calzaghes punching style but it works for him. Valuev....ahhahaha the biggest problem people have with valuev is against such a big man. Vitali is 6'8, it will be like a 6'0 man fighting a 6'5 guy, not a heap of difference if you think about it like that.

Agreed, Klit's hands were low but he utilised his height advantage well to maintin distance. I've no doubt his approach would be different against /valuev, but he has the tools to deal with the big guy IMO.

Vitali has done those things his ENTIRE CAREER...as soon as someone stops him from doing what he does then I'll let you know. 36 wins 35 stoppages....that's pretty fucking impressive for a robotic fighter that telegraphs his punches

Sam Peter is a good fighter, good power, but he is a limited boxer and I told everyone that waaaaaaay long ago. His power was extremely effective vs the less experienced doormats of the division but vs the top level guys he has fought he doesn't have the skills to beat them unless he gets lucky. I told you SAM PETER = DAVID IZON

I expect at least one more week of told ya so posts from Lyle haha. But in fairness he did. I was impressed with Vitali, and his punching power and poise. How he used his reach, to effectively set up the rights.

Looking forward to his next fight. Just not if it is 4 years from now tho.

    Only one week

I hope Vitali fights soon and more often, I REALLY hope he gets to fight Valuev or even Chagaev...it would be AWESOME for boxing for Vitali to clean up the mess that is the WBA (at the heavyweight division)....I will cheerish the day Valuev is cut down like the chump he is

No doubt Vitali has done well for himself, but he hasnt fought someone that can match his size and stregnth to capitalize on his mistakes. Lennox was the only guy ive seen able to do that. ..I agree Sam Peter is a lot like Izon...hes lucky to have got as far as he has imo. The early hype definately helped.

And Lennox (make whatever excuses you like) was having a VERY difficult time with Vitali

I agree that like it or not Valuev is among the divisions best and he is a legit champion. he also has the best chance of beating Vitali aside from Wlad. I wouldnt expect to see the brothers fight each other but it would be interesting.

Lennox was in bad shape and past it, Vitali got my respect that night though for still wanting to fight but he got so badly cut up (unfortunately), no doctor would let that carry on.

Vitali is the cream of a bad crop. It must be said.

I now pin all my hopes on David Haye. Seriously.

And I can't stand either Klitschko but they would kick Valuev's big ass pretty handidly I think.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
