So, I was just looking at The Ring ratings, and, of course, there is no Heavyweight Champion.

Wladimar is #1 and Vitali is #2.

Now those two are never going to fight each other so there can't be a championship match there but it says that in certain cases (and this would sure seem to be one) when #1 can fight #3 which is Chagaev and he's in "recess" so I guess my question is...

When will the ever be a Ring Heavyweight Champion, and if you must does it really matter?

Well I think Wladimir has to be THE MAN in the division as he has held his title for the longest AND he has 2 titles where as Vitali and whoever the WBA champ is (Valuev or Chagaev) only have one.

I expect Wladimir will be THE unified heavyweight champion once Vitali wins the WBA belt and then retires.

Wladimir is only 32 so he could just now be hitting his prime so we can expect another 5-8 years of him being the champion bar another experience like he had with Sanders.

#1 and # can fill a vacancy only when there very little difference between #2 and #3. I dont think that is the case here. There is a huge drop off in quality from Vitali to Chagaev.

Vitali came back after 4 years and beat a top heavy champ, Haye is moving up to heavy after proclaiming he can beat Wladimir to fight Monte Barret who got sparked by a journeyman last year, hes fighting a journeymans journeyman

He COULD but he could also fall flat on his ass too....I don't like Haye's chances vs either Klitschko especially Wlad at this point in time...Wlad has a great jab, he's fought some very tough styles (two southpaws) and he has really come into his own as a fighter. Wladimir is more confident and you'll see in his fight with Povetkin, Wlad is going to flatten him and people will then see how exciting a fighter Wlad can be.

David Haye is going to have to prove himself...here's hoping he does it but we have had plenty of fighters who were supposed to be the next big thing and they haven't lived up to the hype: Joe Mesi, Sam Peter, Dominick Guinn, Audley Harrison, etc....I just think at some point Haye is going to get his bell rung and this time it'll be from a BIG guy and not some over the hill Carl Thompson.

I think Klitcho should've been named the Champion after he unified against Ibragimov. it was not a great fight but it should've made him the new linear champion.

In the passed, the next unified title winner bacame the linear champion.

But I just realized I am mixing up themes here because the linear champion and the ring champion are not always the same
